starting prob
So i just put in a amp and a sub and i have been having some problrms. The other day i went to walmart and was in there for maybe an hour went to start the car but it wouldnt start. The volt meter went all the way to 8 but wouldnt start the security came on. So i undid the amp played with it tried starting nothing so i went to to walk to see if someone could jump me found now came tired it again and it worked i have no clue whats going on

Did the solenoid click or was there the typical low-battery growl when you tried to start it, or did it just do nothing at all? If it did nothing, it could well be related to VATS, the anti-theft system. I had this problem with my 96, intermittent refusals to start and then one day it completely disowned me.
I guess after time the contacts in the ignition lock cylinder that touch the resistor in the key go bad, and rather than replace the cylinder, I just wired in some Radio Shack resistors to fool VATS for the rest of time.
