Lightbulb Speed Limiter Removal

I was wondering if there was a speed limiter on my 89 RS and if so where is it, and how do i take it off? My speedo says 115 mph and before i try to get it there i want to be sure i will be able to. Also is a 5-spd on these cars rare?

Wolfie... went to the site. How's it working on your ride? Do you have any other modifications? Doesn't sound like a bad deal.

Your speed limiter is in the pcm and is there because of the tire's speed rating. It is government mandated. Unless you have Z-rated tires you should be limited to about 108 mph. The only way around this is an aftermarket calibration. Some people bought 5.7 cars with non-speed rated tires thinking they could upgrade the tires and get rid of the speed limiter with a new cal. from the GM dealer, they were wrong. Check with aftermarket calibration manufacturers.
