someone explain this!
I had a missfiring prob. had it diagnosed as misfirre in cylinder 4. So i replaced the spark plugs and examined the wires today(let me just tell anyone who has never changed their spark plugs...take it to the shop!) i get in my car drive it around the block, its perfectly fine, all the way to redline, no misfires
then i take it out a few hours later, slowly it starts to misfire again, but not as bad ( i assumed it was a bad wire) then the misfiring and trembling got so bad I had to pull over.
could it be the gap in the plugs? i bought pre-gapped bosch platinum tips but i still checked each and every one set it to
.60 inches
any ideas would help
thanks

joed4640 the problem is those bosche platinum plugs. I had the same issue. Had the shop through on a new set of platinum +3 plugs and wires, and the car pulled strong from the shop. About 4 hours later i started to get a stumble. Later that night the car started back firing. It got so bad i had to stop. I took the car to the shop and cause the plugs were under waranty i demanded they give me the stock set up again. I didnt ask for the bosche pltinums the just gave them to me at stock price. And they suck.
There is a technical reason why the +3 plugs and wires dont work so well on 4th gen F-cars. If i remember correctly it has something to do with something with how the ignition is set up. so just ditch the bosches and things should return to normal.

i put the ac delco rapidfire plugs in mine, and i believe they were bosch wires, got em from autozone. everything is workin great now. misfires were bad before, could hardly drive the thing.a 1996 3.8 by the way

Based on how the two sets of bosche+'s treated me, i dont think there worth anything at all. The Bosche people did take me up on there deal where i wasnt satisfied and they bought me a set of mine, back to the stockers, havent had issues since then.

why are american car drivers buying german plugs to start with? bosch platinum are not even the right plug for our cars. sure they all look the same, but they are not, as you have now found out- stick to ac delco and you should be just fine. you dont even need rapid fires. just a good set of regular plugs and some nice wires will last you a long way.
i too learned the hard way. thinking bosch was better.

Hmmm...doesn't surprise me Pep Boys couldn't recommend any spark plugs for you. I think Pep Boys is moving their focus into the import car scene. Now if you asked them for some nice neon lights...
Last time I checked, Pep Boys pushes a lot of Bosch spark plugs. Honestly, any AC Delco plugs will work just fine in our cars. Won't see much, if any, difference between plugs...so I just stuck with Delco plugs. Heck, I think NGK plugs are better in our cars than Bosch.
I don't like our stock wires though...went through two sets in one year. Went with Taylor wires...no problems.
