There is no water around the filters but, i was wondering if it could be the pipe itself? im going to take off the filters this weekend and see if it does it without them.

That gargling noise is the CAI working...your sucking more air in and thats the noise that you hear. As the engine heats up, the noise goes away.

Personally, I love the sound. Nothing is broken, it is supposed to sound like that.

I think that you are talking about the intake noise, i know what that sounds like and i also like that noise, like someone posted before almost sounds like a jet eng. LOL but my noise that i get with my Cai is like a bad gargley noise as if you were to gargle water thats what it sounds like

My car has the SLP CAI and does the exact same thing. All my friends even comment on how it is the loudest intake they have ever heard at idle. But i think its just the way the 3.8 intake works, because i had it running open throttle body in the driveway one day without the intake hooked up at all and it sounded exactly the same. Shows that the SLP CAI is not very restrictive at all.

Re: SLP CAI Gargley Noises?

hay foshizl did you ever get the noise narrowed down, my car is a 1997 3.8 5-speed and it too makes the noise on start up then disappears after it warms up. sounds like a gurgling noise coming from the air intake, b4 the air filter, my car is all stock, so it is not just the cai that you put on, anyway, i was hoping that you or someone else could help and post what the possible problem could be, thanks to everyone in advance, btw the noise seems to be from the intake all the way up to the engine, sound is being carried along the intake, cant seem to pinpoint it,help

Re: SLP CAI Gargley Noises?

Like I said in my above post. I just think it is the design of the 3.8 throttle body and intake, because my 3.8 even made the noise with just the throttle body and no intake piping attached.

I put my SLP intake on my LT1 and it doesn't make those noises at all anymore, so I think its just the nature of the 3.8.

Re: SLP CAI Gargley Noises?

wow, this got brought back from the dead.... as far as the intake noise, never got it figured out, like the guys b4 said if you run that open throttle body it sounds the same, it has to do with the factory being very restrictive with the air silencer.... anyway, yeah i sold my 3.8L and bought a 2k z28, its all stock but im hitting 304RWHP and 322RWTQ so im happy good luck
