Since I can't post on camarov6.com yet.. trans question

I've got a little engine swap project going on and I am using a L67 S/C 3.8L engine, but I don't know what transmission to use. Factory L67 hp is ~240-250ish, and I would like about 300hp. I've been doing some reading and it seems the V6 camaro 5sp is WEAK, even at stock N/A 3.8L power levels. I completely despise automatic transmissions in sports cars. But the only RWD manual trans that bolts up to a 3.8 is the camaro 'box (or is there an S10 'box I'm not aware of?). The only way I can see myself using an automatic is with a full manual valve body, but shifting from 4 - 1 at every stop will suck. Another question I have is : is there a stronger transmission that I can bolt up to a V6 camaro 5sp bellhousing? Is the V6 camaro bellhousing even removable? I'm hoping a ford V8 (or V6 I guess.. if it's stronger than a GM V6 5sp) will bolt up to the V6 5sp bellhousing. I highly doubt the ford V6 5sp is any better than the GM 5sp, they're probably the same 'box. I'm also going to assume that a T56 has a 0.001% chance of bolting up to a 5sp bellhousing.

ok.... annd... GO!

Check out G-Force transmissions. There has been a lot of talk about them for upgrading t-5's. I don't know if you're willing to spend that kind of money, but I believe that is your only real option.

Well, FWIW, everybody says an L67 swap into a Camaro isn't possible without some pretty big modifications to fit the L67 in there.

nobody has ever tried it, so the "it wont fit" claims have no basis
from my mesurements the sc is only 1/4 of an in taller than the n/a intake
you would have to fab up 2 elbows to point the tb and the thermostat to the front of the motor, and the fuel line would need some modding

I swear people have tried it and it doesn't fit in 4th gens...

as for transmissions... Look up a guy named Linx on www.fullthrottlev6.com (another v6 board) I believe he is pushing like 400 hp on a 5-speed, he either had his stocker built stronger or upgraded.

You could probably drive around awhile with a stocker v6 5-speed, if you just want it to get your project on the road, just ease into the throttle and don't shock like hard shifts while racing, and it should hold up.

I have broken a few, but almost all are racing related. There are people that have several passes on juice which is probalby in the 300 hp range.

I think people were getting built trannies for like $1-1.5k
