Should I Get Headers?
Re: Should I Get Headers?
Yeah I dont want to get the shorty heads but probably going to get the long tube heads instead. But the thing is that they are illegal correct? Thats gonna be a biatch when I do smogg. And what are equal-length? Sorry for the dumb questions guys.
Re: Should I Get Headers?
Yes long tubes will fail visual but it is possible to pass the sniffer part of the test if your still going to use a cat. Equal length is refering to the primaries. Each of the individual tubes (in this case 3 tubes on each side) would be equal length before they combine into the collector.
Re: Should I Get Headers?
I was looking at getting mid tubes. On ebay there's an auction for pacesetter headers which are mid tubes. It says its 50 states legal and that the mid-tubes are emission legal in all 50 states.
Just to be safe you think I should just get the mid-tube pacesetter headers?

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Here's the link to the auction on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
If your not able to view it, here's the item number 7964633361. The auction ended but the seller told me he will be posted it up again or I can just buy the headers directly through paypal from him. I asked him what kind of tubing it is. The seller says its mid-tube headers and on the auction it says 50 states legal.
He's selling the ceramic coated headers for $370, but I am confused about cermamic and jet-hot coated. Do you know which is better? Or does coating even matter?
Thanks alot for the help man.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Skip headers....
honestly. The gains have not been that big, and with pacesetters there was a bad batch out for awhile where the Y-pipe didn't fit and had to be cut and extended.
Not even worth the troubles in my opinion. You have tubular manifolds and are running just fine on those. I'd skip them especially if you might have inspection problems
Get gears/LSD over headers, or other mods.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Man that's a pretty good deal $230 for a pair of mids. And they are completly legal, that Carb number is what you give to the smog ppl or anyone questioning if it's legal. Only complaint I have is that they don't look equal length.
The metallic finish is a ceramic finish which he says is extra and you have to e-mail him about. Ceramic coating insulates the pipes to keep the heat in, hotter pipes flow better. So the ceramic part will help performance wise the metallic part gives it the shiny chrome look.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Cool, have you heard of jet-hot coated? Since the uncoated is much cheaper you think I should get that one or should I go with a ceramnic header?
I have a friend that told me that it doesn't really matter because I have cold air intake. Is this true? The uncoated is like $100 to $150 less then the coated ones. Those mid-tube headers coated cost $370.47 with $15 shipping, is that a good deal?

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Yeah that's a pretty good deal and Jet hot is popular, not sure how big of a difference it would make that they aren't equal length headers. If it isn't a big difference and if you and some friends would be able to install them then I would go for it. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it IMO.
I don't see your friends logic.
He probably shouldn't help with the header install if you get them.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Yeah I'm probably gonna get the incoated from that guy and send it to a place that get get it jet-hot coated for me. Well depends how much they charge, if its a lot then I'll probably get the matallic ceramic-coat pacestter.
My friend was explauing something to me but I'm gonna get a coated one anyways.
I have my high flow cat coming in soon and probably get it installed by next week. What should I expect from adding that to my car? I heard it'll make my exhaust sound a little louder and powerful and adding just a little horse power. Is that true?
Once again thanks man, what's your name anywas? I'm Nino like el nino but just without the el hahaha. I'm a personal fitness trainer so if you ever have any questions about fitness and nutrition just ask away.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Sup man. Im Brian. I had a V6 Camaro and was in your shoes at one time. So I try to help.
I wouldn't expect to feel any extra power from the cat. Assuming it will flow better then the stock one the exhaust tone will change a little for the better. That setup your looking at on Ebay comes with a cat. So I would choose one or the other and since you already bought the cat I'd just go with it.
You could still get the headers instead or get the high flow cat welded in place of the one that comes with it, but the cost wouldn't be worth it.

Re: Should I Get Headers?
Sup Brian,
I had no idea those headers came with a cat hmmmmmm. Will it be better then the high flow catco cat that I just bought? Which one do you think I should put on? I really want to make my car sound really good, well good for a V6 ya know.
I've heard a couple V6's around my block that sounded terrible. That was the reason why I was scared to put an exhaust in my car. But the magnaflows actually sound pretty good. Kinda gives it that muscle car sound but not as deep as a V8 but somewhat close.
So basically what my plans are for my car are headers, pulleys and a performance chip. What do you think about that set-up? Do you know of any good performance chips out there for camaros? Which pulleys would be good on my car?

Re: Should I Get Headers?
this is seriously a waste of money man
a set 3.42 gears and an LSD would be much better bang for the buck
as for pulleys, your crank is already underdriven, however if you really want an aftermarket one you can get one from a 3.8L GP .. at this time there arent any made specifically for 3.8L f-bodies to my knowledge
as for a chip, skip the **** and do it right, find someone in your area that can tune your computer, a simple bolton chip or a hypertech programmer wont do much at all, however if you have your car tuned it will make a world of a difference
