ok...97 v6 5spd new plugs wires and all coils. car has about 125k and an odd hesitation at part throttle and it seems down on power. im not racing this thing. thats what the formy is for. it just isnt driving well. all the coils were replaced in an attempt to track down a misfire to no avail as were the plugs and wires. the car runs great in the mornings as long as its cool at night. as soon as it warmed up this morning it started stumbling after being parked all weekend but ran about perfect until then. it seems all that is left is either icm or something im not thinking of. any relevent advice would be appreciated.

 

Either you missed the part where you scanned for codes and forgot to provide us the code numbers so we can help...

Or you haven't scanned for codes yet--you need to--and aren't ready to stop tossing parts at your car yet.

 

Is the SES liight illuminated? If so, getting it scanned for codes is a good start to tracing down the problem.

 

from what your saying with the OK at cold temp but not so good at hot it kind of sounds like it might have something to do with air fuel mix??? But, that could be tons of stuff (bad sensor on throttle body, injector etc.,)

Like said above, it would really help debugging by getting the SES codes read out, they’ll read them for you for not cost at autozone and many other parts stores if you don’t have the code reader, or $60ish on a little actron code reader is a good investment…

 

i was getting codes for a misfire. the ses light is still on and i am still getting the same misfire codes. misfires are occuring on all six cylinders at random.

 

If it's starting fine and running bad at hot temps, it sounds like bad O2 sensors... Computer runs in closed loop in cold start and open loop when the engine is warm... Closed loop uses a pre mapped fuel plan downloaded in the PCM however Open loop determines ignition and timing by using the O2 sensor readings... ...If the O2's are bad then it's not getting accurate readings and will cause misfires... Don't be surprised if you see an extra code "random multiple misfires"... thats normal, just replace the O2's and see what happens...

 

Have you confirmed there aren't any vacuum leaks?

 

good advice, dying O2 sensors tend to hurt performance and gas mileage etc., so it can't hurt to change it and alot of people say it should be in there with routnine maintance. It's not really hard to do just make sure you pick up one of those 02 sensors sockets at the parts house as that will make the job easier.. alot of stores have them on loaner tool sets so that helps

but as said above a random miss could be many many things

hadnt thought about O2's...i know when i bought the car from my roommate i was asking him about what all he had kept up with and when i asked about O2 sensors he said "uh...what?" not a very car savy guy...needless to say the O2's that are in there are probably OE...need to replace those this weekend anyway most likely...ive had a lot on my mind lately with my formy build right now and am probably missing some general upkeep on this car to keep it running and well...anyone got any other guesses?
