Service Engine Soon light.

my Service Engine Soon light stays on all the time, and i know its because i dont have a cat, but my question is...

That little switch on the dash entitled "SGS" stays on now and i cant press it to turn it off. Even if i click it off it stays on. Does SGS stand for service engine soon? I mean are they both displaying the same thing, I remember i used to could turn it on / off (the sgs button on the dash) before i got my exhaust leak fixed, and now it just says on and even if i try to turn it off it wont.

Low traction.. I don't really know, I have a manual. That is probably your problem with not being able to burnout though. My car can't burnout in 2nd either.

Does your car start sluggish? Put it in 1st and nail it. Then stop, put it in 2nd, and nail it. Does it feel different? If not, your car is really sluggish because it's stuck in 2nd, explaining why your SGS light is constantly on. If it feels less sluggish in 1st, you probably just have a light malfunction.

Re: Service Engine Soon light.

na guys, it was just a computer program, when i started up my car this afternoon it wasnt on anymore -- i felt it and i was difnitly starting in 1st now. I tried to burnout, and i still cant, it gets to 2500 rpm and stops and the tires dont spin I tried easing up on the brake, still doesnt work.

I'm really starting to think i need more rear end pressure / tq.. maybe ill put my cat back on -_=

Re: Service Engine Soon light.

You need an O2 sim and fix that SGS(Second Gear Start which is used in low traction conditions so you don't spin out.). Then you might be able to burnout.

...but you still need an o2 sim to get rid of the SES for no cat....if it has been on long enough the ECM may have reverted to limp home mode (I doubt it with just the cat issue, but you never know).
