Security problem...

Well tonight I was heading to work or so I thought. I used my keyless entry feature I added with a Clifford alarm to open my door on my 97 Silver Camaro. When I did I jumped in the car turned the key only half way to set the radio station(its night time so the lights came on) I went to turn the ignition on and the car didnt even crank. All it did was turn off the lights and have no response. Well I looked at the console and noticed the Security light on. I took the key out and got out but the Security light stayed on. Needless to say I thought it was the stock security system giving me sh*t. I attempted to turn the car on but nothing seem to work. I noticed that the Security light would came on and off when I turned the key towards the bottom. So I tried again and it started right up. Awsome but I was still a little worried. Turned the car off, got out, turned the alarm on and off got in and it started right up. No security light. So now I'm at work but still thinking about this. I'm really hoping this doesn't happen again but who's to say. Does anybody have a clue what happened with the car?? ...ANY advice/thoughts would be great...Thanks in advance.

Same thing happened to me one time. Went to go start up my car with my everyday keys and it wouldn't start and the SECURITY light was on. Tried it three times...same thing. Waited 5 minutes, didn't start. Went inside the house, got my extra ignition key and it started. Went back to the original key, and it worked then...

That was about a year ago...only problem with the SECURITY light I've ever had. Both keys work now...must have just been a one-time thing.

It could be a bunch of things causing this. Such as the key being slighty wet or damp, or if the car roles with the key out of the ignition a certain nuber of feet. Or the key simply may have been out of whack in the ignition. It happens to most of us, so dont sweat it.

Want to hear my problem with Security system on my Camaro? See if anyone knows why this happens...

had a top of the line viper system installed. when the alarm would go off - the hatchback would pop open. WTF?

We had done some work on the car prior to this, and for some reason when the battery would be reconnected - the hatch would pop. I'ts like when there's a power surge - the hatch blows. LOL. So I had to have them disable the Aux feature for the hatchback simply because in a torrential lightning infested downpour if my alarm went off, my hatchback would open. And that would not be good. LOL.
