Rough Idle, power loss and smell of fuel!

blew a head gasket back in october and decided to rebuild the entire engine. everything has been running fine up until last week. SES came on and it was a bad O2 in the manifold. i replaced the O2 last week and reset the computer. i've driven about 300 since resetting and i haven't seen any new codes. however, the car is idling rough. in park the rpms are between maybe 650-900. i this doesn't seem to bad but its shaking my entire car in park. i don't see any arching and i assume the plugs (and wires) are fine (only around 10,000 miles on both). while idling, it seems like i hear something on the passenger side of the engine, over near what i believe is the EVAP purge solenoid valve. had the car is the garage while i was looking for the problem and the exhaust almost killed me.....horrible gas smell. since i'm not throwing any codes, i have no idea what the problem is and i'm looking for suggestions. the engine seems a little louder than usually at higher speeds. i can't trace any vacuum leaks but it would be hard for me to fine a small leak. as anyone had a problem like this or have some useful info??

All that crap is happening to my car. My guess is that the engine isnt properly tuned, the smell could be from richness, as well as the rough idle. That seems like the only thing because the rest of my car seems mechanicaly solid.

i guess i'll have to take it to a dealer and let them scan it so i can find the problem for sure. i pulled the plugs tonight and they still look fine. the wires appeared in great shape too, no arching either. around 40 mph, the car doesn't want to go anymore. i'm starting to think i have a clogged cat. hopefully, the scan will point me to the precise problem.

Either your cat is stopped up, ignition coils or your O2 sensors are sending too much gas to your cat causing it too run rich.
