Re: RK Sport air temp module

It defeats the function of the air temp sensor, tricking the computer into thinking the incoming air is always cold. That sensor might be there for a reason...

Re: RK Sport air temp module

Does it really offset the air temp that much to cause problems?

No, probably not. On the other hand does it make much difference in performance? Again, probably not. It's a band aid approach to changing the operation of the computer. If you really want gains in that area, get it reprogrammed, or at least just relocate the sensor further upstream where it may be less affected by engine compartment heat.

if you have, or are getting the cold air intake you said before, you can relocate it down to where the filter is. That would be the best spot for it anyway.

Re: RK Sport air temp module

There is no need to relocate the IAT, the air doesnt get any hotter going through the tube at all.

All the RKsport thing is, is basically a resistor in a plastic housing. It tells the PCM that colder air is coming in than really is, and the PCM slightly advances the timing. you can do it yourself at radioshak for about $.35

Theoretically, it will lower your gas mileage. Thats about it.

yes... it does help. It is a very comman free mod to do. it gives you about .12hp lol MustangEater is the king of free mods, and if he says it works, and everybody else who has done says go for it, go for it. It will not hurt your reading at all. Only improve it.

Re: RK Sport air temp module

It wont even give you .12hp. A while back, everyone thought that the SLP intake for the 93-97 cars was a bad intake, because it was metal. The theory was that the metal made the air hotter as it flowed through, thus giving the IAT a higher reading and retarding timing. Then someone finally actually measured the air at the intake opening and the air coming into the throttle body through an SLP intake, and there was absolutely no difference at all. So moving the IAT sensor is a great way to kill an hour or two, but it will do nothing for your car except add a few excess wires to your engine bay.
