right now I have a 94 v6 camaro with a stock 4 speed auto tranny and rear end. What I would like to do is replace the rear end with an 02, or simmiale read end setup, v6 rear end. I want it for a few reasons one I will finnaly have 4 wheel disk breaks, a limited slip differential and a new rear end with less miles. But are they replaceable can I change them out with ease. And where should I replace them should I take the drive saft and replace it from there back our should I leave my old drive shaft and just replace the rear end. And if it is possible can you post a link to a how to for replaceing it.

dont worry about the placement of the post, i can tackle it for ya

first off , you have 3 channel ABS if you want your rear ABS to function properly and not have a flashing light on your dash all the time you will need to get a rearend from a car that does not have traction controll (the traction controll cars rear brake system is different, it will work mechanically , but your rear ABS will not work)

also right now you have a 3.23 gear in your rearend, if you get a rearend from a 6 speed you will have a 3.42 gear (better for acceleration, however unless you get your car tuned for the gear your spedo will be off by 1.15 % (if i recall correctly))

so if you dont want to deal with that look for a rearend from an automatic

as far as the D/S goes.. yeah i would replace it, the stock one is a POS

when changing rearends, all you need to do is jack up the car, disconnect the brake lines, the E-brake lines, the LCA's the panhard rod, and the shocks and it should come out (unless there is a ton of rust everywhere like there was on my car (it took me 2 days of bitchin and moaning.. but i also ended up breaking a few bolts and it was really cold in my garage so i was moving slow.. with no rust and a warm day it should take an afternoon)

how can I tell if it has traction controle on the car. Does it have that second gear start button in the cab of the car.

and what is the panhard rob. I have a service manual for my year camaro and I can't find anything about that.

and will my wheels from my camaro fit on the new rear end are the wheel studs the same distance apart or will I have to replace them or modify them some how

the panhard rod is the lil u channel peice of stamped steel that goes from the body to the rear axle..

if the car has traction control it will have a TCS button , SGS is totally different (SGS will not affect the rearen

if your wheels fit on your current rearend they will work on a new one as well
