Questions: MSD Ignition For 3800II
Questions: MSD Ignition For 3800II
I have looked into MSD GM-Style 2-Tower coils and the 8.5mm wire set for my 97 V6. What I don;t understand is how MSD other products work with this engine. For example: Does a DIS-4 replace the stock ignition module? Does a DIS-4 drive the same 2-Tower coils? Does a DIS-4 interface with the stock ECM?

The Dis-4 would connect to the coils, but would not replace them. Basically though, the entire MSD line is not needed. Some of the fastest 3.8s in the country are still using the stock coils with no DIS-4.

Yea, stock delco coils should last you for quite a while. My '91 Lumina uses the exact same coils (3.1L v6) and at 180k miles, I still blow the gaps on my delco plugs wide open. The last set I pulled blew from .045 to .065 over 50k miles.
