Re: power windows

You need new window motors. I had the same problem with them going up and stopping, then waiting and they'll go up again. You need to get new motors. I found a great site on the internet that will show you how to install them yourself. It requires taking your door panel off, drilling out certain parts to access the rivets, then drilling out the rivets. Finally, once the old motor is removed, you can bolt in the new one and hook up the wiring. It took me abuot 2 hours to do it. I'll try to find the website that I used and post it later. Take care and good luck!

Ditto, your motor it telling you its fixing to go out. Autozone has them fo 50 bucks i think and they come with lifetime warranty. Just buy one and when the other side goes out take it back and say you have lifetime warranty on it. No need to buy two if its the same motor.

Yeah, definitely follow Shoebox's guide, I had both doors done in around an hour. Its not as daunting of a task as it may look.

Yeah, I bought a motor at Autozone and it was lke $57 total and has a lifetime warranty, but only for one motor. It works just fine.

Re: power windows

These motors can be made to work again. I took mine apart, cleaned and replaced the lubricant and circumvented the thermal bi-metal resistor. The lube inside these motors is not grease. Whatever it is resembles a sticky substance that has a weird adhesive quality. It was thick, stringy and difficult to wipe clean. I don't know how "worn out" is actually defined but the brushes and commutator on my driver side motor were quite fine but the motor could not move the window the full extent without resting. Cleaned, re-wired and greased, including the modulator assembly and the 12 year old motor now does everything I ask of it.
