Power locks question
Power locks question
I have a 94 Camaro, and I'm wondering... if the switch for the power locks isn't working on the driver's side, will that make it so the power lock on the passenger side not work also?
Basically the switch just moves freely now, it doesn't have any friction or move back into place after moving it one way or the other.
My problem originally was this:
I removed my alarm from my car because I thought I was selling it. After removing the alarm the locks didn't work. Then a couple weeks later my switch broke. Now that I'm not selling the car, I re-connected my alarm and now the locks still aren't working.
I did test to see that I'm getting a constant 12v to my switch, and I tried grounding my dark blue wire, while connecting the hotwire to (forget the color) the other wire for the lock/unlock, and I don't get/hear anything.
Now I'm a bit confused as to what's happening. Any help would be appreciated, or anything else I can test.
Or maybe someone has some info about these locks that I have to tell the alarm? Also where are the actuators located? And if I have access to these, can I further test the locks by feeding power to them? I'm not 100% sure how this all works together, I'm just going by the schematics in my Haynes manual. The colors the Hayne's manual mentions don't seem to completely match mine also, so that's leading me into more confusion (for example, I'm supposedely supposed to have a tan and grey wire at my switch, which I do not, but I do have a dk blue, lt blue and orange like it says. I haven't taken the connector off the switch at the passenger side yet, just the drivers side.
Thanks for the help
