piecing together a summit 3" exhaust-help with cat (muffler replacement?)

hey guys, the ol'cat is starting to stink and rattle on the 3.4 and she's getting tired of the looks of her dual exit exhaust she has now (dynomax super turbo with Z28 style tips)

so we saw and heard the summit 3" exhaust the guy with the 3.8 had

we're wanting to ditch the cat entirely but were thinking of (if it sounds crappy) replacing it with another one of summits 3" mufflers (@ $20 you cant go wrong)

any comments or suggestions?

is a cat more or less restrictive than a muffler?

a cat is more restrictive!

remove the cat and crack the ceramic inside with an iron rod until the cat is empty........ and install it back..... looks like original, has no (!) backpressure and sounds awsome
