Question People with 255/50-16's come on in...

Is it worth the extra money to go from 235/55-16's to 255/50-16's? If there isn't no noticeable difference between the two then I'll just stick with the 235/55-16's.

Worth as in?

If you go with 255/50-16's all the way around, you have a very good chance of having the tires rubbing fenderwells in the front.

Therefore why not go w/245-50-16's? Those are the correct one size up anyway?.

I have 245's and they are really great. They give great handling and are not all small looking like the 235's. 250 seemed a bit much for me when I was looking at them.

Well I needed only 2 new rear tires and I figured I might as well put a little more meat out back. For a V6 there isn't really the need though. It doesn't make much difference anyway.

Ya, but i bet they still look good on a v6. I am thinking about getting 255's on the back and probably 245's up front, not really sure what tire though..thinking maybe BF goodrich kdw's or something...i need a street tire that will give me great traction...the only problem here is it is raining like its vietnam in the rainy season here.

In my opinion if you are looking for traction then I would not recommend the BF Goodrich. My experience is that the traction "factor" wears pretty quick and for the money, well that just is no good. I found some tires by the name of Visa, they are made by Falken. I just bought my second set last month and for the performance and the price they couldn't be beat. They are 245/50/ZR16's and I bought this last set for $250 (I traded in my first set and the shop took off $100). I had the first set for 2 years and they still had alot of meat on'em. The only real reason for trading them in was just for that "new" meat on em and I couldn't pass up that kinda deal. Check'em out in my sig and do a google search too for more info. Just my .02

Remember that if you do this, you won't be able to rotate your tires w/o it looking retarded.

A friend of mine has 245/50/16 Kumo Esta 711's on his 95 firebird 3.4L... and we just went on a 1053 mile road trip and they were perfect, great handling and great rain traction. when they get hot, they get nice and sticky... but still, great tread wear too. for 56 bucks a piece, you cant beat it.

and they look mean as hell too... used to be able to bark second with the shift kit, and now with these tires, no more spin.

I don't think it would be a problem either, 275s are on the SSs and they have no problem. IMO fat tires make the Camaro look really good especially from behind, which is hopefully the view most people get.

Word. There are many people running around with 255's on teh stock 16x8 wheels, and none have reported any problems with rubbing to my knowledge.
