NOS2006 appreciate your help bud

I also plan to get a cam. Do you have to tune your computer after you install it or not? If so how did you tune it. Or what did you tune it with and how much did it cost?

Sweet, didn't expect this lol. Yeah, I got my computer tuned by Texas Speed and Performance (found HERE). It's a Mail Order Custom Tuning, which pretty much means you pay to get it there and they'll send it back (which I believe you also pay for, I forget). What I did was take the PCM out the day we started tearing the engine apart, put it in overnight mail (expensive!), they fixed 'er up and sent it back. However, the best part is that you tell them everything.. every mod you've done to your car and they'll tune it as best they can. For example, since I have a Comp Cams GT2 Cam (with the listed supporting mods on that site, of course), they tuned my RPMs to hit a maximum of 6500-7000 when at WOT. Therefore, I get a longer powerband and can use the power a little more. Also, if you throw (or are going to throw) a rearend in, you'll need the speedometer recalibrated. I did this shortly after the cam, so I told them to calibrate it for 3.73s and they did that, too!

I didn't have a problem with them at all.. Highly recommend it!

does your car run really good now?? I was thinking about getting 3.73s but i dont know. my car has flowmaster exaust and sounds really good @2500 rpms and thats 4th gear @ 53mph so thats where i keep it most of the time and i have to be going 65mph to get 5th gear @ 2500 rpms so i dont think they would hurt me would they?? i timed my 0-60 @7.4 sec
i was thinking about getting one of these cams http://www.3800performance.com/Merch...egory_Code=CVT which one would be best?(l36)

what is your 1/8,1/4, 0-60 times if you got them?

About the headers: I have those same ones, but mine are ceramic coated (look chrome), which I hear keep the things a little cooler and they won't rust out in a year like the painted (black) ones can. And it'll sound a hell of a lot better with the headers vs. stock '97-99 manifolds.

3.73s are your choice. Honestly, I'm going to be doing a lot of freeway driving because of college and I'm scared of gas mileage in my car w/ the 3.73s (also, I've got an automatic, so it may differ for you). I'm wondering if I should switch to 3.42s or not. Anyway, it's a much quicker launch now than it was in my stock 3.08s (unless you have the Y87 Package which means you've got.. I think it's 3.42 gears). I had my engine all mod'd out then a week later I got the rearend put in and it was one ****ing hell of a difference.

That cam, I have no idea. I'd ask around to the other guys on the board (or camarov6.com) because I only know about the GT-style cams found on ZZPerformance.com (click on Grand Prix, then valvetrain). GT1 is a little better than stock and could be used with a fully stock valvetrain I believe. I got the GT2, which means you should have upgraded pushrods, valves, and valve retainers. And a GT3 is the closest GT cam to a racing cam (aka more racing than street) and will lope a lot harder. The cam makes the car sound great too although it doesn't sound like a cam'd V8 by any stretch. However, I get compliments on the sound all the time (as a matter of fact, I only cruised for about 1.5 hrs last Saturday and had 3 people tell me it sounded good).

I don't have any times.. 1/8, 1/4, or 0-60.. However, I raced a mod'd out LT1 Z28 who runs mid to low 13s and stayed with him until around 70. He said after he got back from the track (the next weekend) that I'd probably run between a 13.8-14.3 1/4 mile (which is a couple seconds quicker than stock).

So, it's all up to you, but this is what I know..
