Hi, I see that you are new to f-bodies. At first glance, I also see that you are only fifteen and don't even have a car yet. Finally, I see that you are eager to learn all you can and have given us permission to tell you if you sound like an idiot.
That being said...STOP just a second. I was in your shoes once...kind of. You are fifteen. You have no car (yet). You were planning an engine swap. Please, by all means, learn as much as you can before you post about stuff like that. You should get the car first, then do something to it. Slow down a little and research. Sorry, I don't mean to be a di*k, but there is someone on the LS1 board that is making all kinds of outlandish posts and not doing any research. Anyway, welcome to the board and f-bodies!
P.S. I have had 2 V6 Firebirds, and trust me, the gas milage is nice when you just get your license...Just another fact to think about.

Stay with the six, especially at age 15...
You will like the power, I got mine not even a month ago and love it, I just turned 17 a few days ago also. I plan on doing the bolt-ons for performance, then making it look nice/etc. But when I really want the real power I will just buy an ss/z28 or concept in a few years..
So just keep your v6. If your looking for an ls1 just buy a z28, takes to much time/effort/experience to get the z28 motor into the 3800 camaro..
peace

Glad you actually got the car, and I wasn't trying to talk down to you because your 15 or anything like that. Sorry if it seemed that way. If I were you, I would keep the V6. If you ARE hellbent on getting an LS1 car, I would just go buy one. They are getting cheaper by the day. They don't make those things anymore, you know.
Re: Nevermind Previous Thread I Posted
yeah thanks, I didnt think you were trying to bring me down, it is completely understandable knowing that im still young. but i already have experience with my friends ls1 so i know how to handle them. if i didnt have experience with them than yes i would say its too much for me to handle, the six banger just doesent have the juice i want. To me I'd say that theres nothing like a kick in the pants 8 cylinder. I would definitely say im pretty hellbent on getting an ls1...I've wanted an LS1 Camaro SS car since they came out (i was 8 or so) ever since then thats been pretty much my main goal. it is pretty nice thoguh that the ls1s are getting less cause it will make my life alot easier, ill probaly get mine aorund the time the the new production camaro comes out (knock on wood)

No offense man but you're 15 and don't even have a year's experience behind the wheel of ur 3.4L much less know how to contol a car w/ double the power when you only know a guy w/ the ls1. Stick to the 3.4L for a good while, do some suspension work, exhaust, intake, etc. and get firmiliar w/ how an f-body handles before stepping up to double the hp/tq. By that time the money you saved on insurance w/ the v6 and working will allow you to find a great car. The 3.4 is enough to get you into trouble. Trust me, I know from experience; 5 tickets and put in jail w/in 3 days in my '94 3.4L
. I'm only 21 and know how much fun the 6 has been and how much of a learning experience it can be. I'm not trying to get on ur ***** or anything but I'd hate to see a 16 yr old die when he wraps himself around a tree b/c he didn't grasp idea of the power a ls1 is capable of producing. If I were to do it again, I would still take the v6 b/c I've so much about it and how to handle the car. Congrats on ur firebird and hope all goes well on whatever you choose to do. l8tr,

I wouldn't spend money doing supsension/performance mods if you have your heart set on a LT1/LS1. Do a couple little things, some components, tint, rear "Pontiac" Inserts, clear corners... Just a lil something to spice up the car, or leave it stock. But if you do a performance mod, def get a posi rear end. You wil be amazed in the difference. Find one out of a totaled LT1 or something.
