hypertech is smart.....you can only use it on one car....meaning....if i have one..and i switch my settings...it wont work on no one car other than mine....if i switch my settings back to stock...then i can re-sell it....i had a change to buy one..but for 450 dllrs...i didnt think so..since they dont make them..people try to get too much out of them..but sorry....if you get a chip that can recalibrate our speedos...pass on the info to me please.

JCWhitney.com has a jet chip for TA's for $129 (81-85), $ 199 (86-93). Plus they have a Hypertech programmer 3 for $354 (96-2000) Firebirds and Camaro's. If ya have the catalog it's page 92. If ya dont, go to the site and order a free copy. Hope it helps

i got a hpp3 for my 2000. it says its for 2000-2002 V6s
but it wont program for 3.73s! it only allows you to change the programming for 3.08, 3.23, 3.42s. now why would i go from 3.42s to 3.08s? luckily i could change tire height to 24 inches and that did the trick.
sorry, i have never run across one for the 3.4.

SLP makes a speedometer recalibrater don't they? I'm guessing it would work with a V6 too. It's really not that big of a difference, stock you have 3.23's. Switching to 3.42's your speedo will only be off about 5-7 mph.

I don't think the shift points will be off enough to make a difference. My friend has a 98 WS6 that originally had 2.73's and then the previous owner put 3.73's in. His speedometer is off by a lot but the shift points don't seem to be wrong.

aren't shift points figured from the RPM's anyway? just because you have different gears shouldn't change the fact that the tranny will shift to next gear at 5400rpm or whatever it may be. your speed at this rpm will be different (less), but you'll get there faster with your new gears than the stock ones, so you'll go faster. so why are you worried about shift points unless you did something to your engine as well?
