My car is starting to make a very weird sound. The sound is very hard to explain but ill try my best. Have you ever heard a truck/suv drive by and sounds very fanny because its really hot out and/or they have the a/c on thats what it kinda sounds like but not as loud. The sound is coming from either the rearend or the tranny. Also the sound only occurs in 1st gear, once it shifts out of 1st gear the noise stops. So if anyone knows what the problem is please let me know and is there any way i can check myself. Also the car is an auto and you can only hear the sound inside the car. Please help me out thanks.

 

I seem to be having the same problem. Mine rattles in first gear, also, but mine is louder when the A/C is on. I am pretty sure it's the cat rattling at certain RPMs. Have you tried getting under the car and having someone rev your motor? You might be able to pin point it.

 

only in first gear? is it at a certain rpm or all through the range

without hearing it its hard to pinpoint but it could be exaust tranny or gears

is it manual or auto?
