Unhappy need help 3.4 will not say running

my car is a 95 3.4 firebird . the thing is it starts after a few trys , but will only keep running if you give some gas . it will be reving at 2-3k to say started . if you rev it it chokes out and dies , but you need to give it some gas to start
and say running .all sensors are new . has a ses light but no way of reading it . the motor only has 70k on it but the car has 202k miles on her. done new pulgs, wires coils that i know are good . all the sensors on the tb. new fuel filter. let me know what you guys think . need to get her running . gas prices are killer (i miss my high 20s mpg car ).
thank for any help guys erick

Why can't you get the car scanned for codes? Are there any apparent vacuum leaks? Have you checked the fuel pressure at all?

do a search on shoebox, he has a how to on his page to make an adapter for your obd2 style plug. As far as how its running.... sounds like it may be your cat. converter. I would check F.P. first then couldnt hurt to check out the cat. or even the muffler for that matter. Just somethin to check out.

You said you gotta give it gas, the gas pedal on these cars only controls airflow into the intake right? Might be the idle air control valve, since that's what controls intake air at idle cuz the throttle body plate is closed with your foot off the gas.
Good luck

yeah the IAC sounds quite possible, but it could be many things. Might help to check that the injectors are getting correct power, as my friend had a car doing a very similar thing not to long ago and my logic went stright to IAC, but it turned out to be that the battery was dying and not sending enough power to the injectors so they weren’t sending fuel to spec so it was stalling at idel but if you reved it up it would run ok...

would really help to read out those codes
