my bird just started to tick!!
mines starting to tick too but not too loud...but mine only does it at idle and once i start driving it goes away. I dont really know what it is either b/c mine will do it some days and some days it wont do it at all.
mine only does it at low rpm's but up top it doesnt seem to do it. its drivin me nuts!! im half tempted to just start tearin into it!!
Could also be your lifters. I was looking at a 99 Firebird and it had that exact same thing. It would tick when it was cold then after driving it for awhile, it would go away. Had somebody check it out and it was two bad lifters. I passed on the deal.
well i just took it down the highway after adding like a 1/2 qt of oil (it was still in the opperating range, but near the bottom) and the tick is constantly there, but its not consistant and its real faint, it like goes up and down in pitch, its realy throwin me for a loop!!
Mine is odd, When I start it up COLD and drive it the first few blocks, no ticking or noise or anything but as the car warms up that ticking sound comes on everytime my foot is on the gas. When I come to a complete stop the sound stays constant for a few seconds, then slowly disapears. but when I tap the gas it just pops right back up at full force. It's not TOO loud as the engine drowns it out at highway speeds and at road speeds having the windows down or listening to the radio drowns it away but it does get annoying. It sounds EXACTLY like The Wheel of Fortune... the sound the wheel makes when it runs across and smacks those notches that eventually stop it. It sounds loudest at the center console and just above my dashboard that was cracked by an idiot who tried to find it. You can hear it through the entire car though. Any idea as to what this could be? It only does this in Drive Gears, not even in reverse, nutruel or park...
