My 5 speed kicks out of first.

I'ts getting worse it kicks hard out of first. Has this happened to anyone. Could it be syncros or shift linkage or just from wear it is a 94 and I don't know how well the pervious owner took car of the car. I did replace the clutch my self about a year ago.

Well I havent had this problem with my camaro but did with an 88 mustang I had. The 5 speeds are similar between the 2. First thing I was told to check was to pull the shifter out and check the small plastic "cup" where the shifter arm inserts in the trans (this can be done easily from inside the car.... may need to pull center console out.) Then I was told since that was okay that the trans needed rebuilt. I was able to keep it from happening very often by making sure I downshifted into first before the car came to a complete stop... Give it a try. As your rolling to the stop sign, shift into first then stop completely... that usually kept it from happening. When my mustang did it it was pretty violent....almost seemed like it would break your arm.

Mine use to just slip out of 2nd and 4th when I would push the clutch in. It was sitting for a long time over the winter but after I got to driving it some more it stopped doing it.
