my 1997 v6 is pretty fast

Ive got an slp cold air intake and flowmaster exaust. And that stuff doesnt help performance that much. i went with my friend that has the grand prix supercharged (i think it was stock then) to race a v6 5-speed mustang (with a chip) when we raced, the mustang got us off the line but when we go to 80 the grand prix started pulling away from him very slowly but if it was a stoplight race the mustang would have won. I raced the mustang with my 1997 v6 automatic and lost by like 2 car lengths but i recently traded it for a 1997 v6 5-speed (hell of alot faster) i know i could whip that mustangs *** and the grand prix!!!

my 1997 v6 auto got 11sec eighth mile
my 1997 v6 5-speed got 9.9sec eight mile and beat two 5.0 mustangs

if your car has no serious mods you wont beat the grand prix gtp, my friend has one and he keeps up with me in my LT1 and actually beats me off the line, if he loses then there is something wrong with his car or cant drive, no trying to be an *** or anything, your advantage is manual but you gatta think he has a blower on you and basically is the same weight, gearing, and the exact same engine only with a blower, your car stock should run 0-60 in 7.2 the gtp will run 6.6 0-60 stock with a 14.9 1/4, but if your friend almost loses to a v6 mustang he has a seriously sick grand prix, so you might beat him, my friends stock gtp eats up v8 mustangs all day long so your friend has something up, best of luck though

I hate it when people only give 1/8 times.

Dude didnt you already have a thread about loosing to a grand prix and everybody told you it was faster than your car. And a 5.0 mustang would probably beat your car unless it is a terrible driver.

Is it slow? No.
Is it pretty fast? No.

My 97 ws6 will do 13/14 in the 1/4... So, yeah, 11 seconds in an 1/8 isn't pretty fast.. I mean, for a v6, it's possible, but you didn't throw that caveat on there..

/no offense meant at all
//just saying.

97 camaros are kinda slow, I owned one with my 02 because I had 342 gears stock..

And I can't even beat a gtp, no way u did unless the driver has a 70 IQ

Re: my 1997 v6 is pretty fast

I meant my car is pretty fast for a stock v6. I havent done anything to it yet. This guy asked me if my car was a v6 and i said yea and he said he could take me in his 1999 ford v8 truck and hell no he didnt. i got 9.9 in the 1/8 mile stock...all motor...v6. and dam those with grand prixs, my car looks cooler and i still have my dignity (granny car grand prixs)

And the two 5.0 mustangs i beat, i barely beat them it was like .02 lol if it would have been longer i would have definatly lost.

i would have put a 1/4 mile time but theres no 1/4 mile track near me so i cant get one.

i raced an SRT4 neon the other day and...............DAM those things will go!!!!! i was with him in 1st but when i changed to 2nd he left me about 10 lengths.

anyone else that has been to the strip in their v6 post your times

I have seen alot of good looking Gran Prix's before, and i dont know how you would keep your dignity when a "granny's car" spanks you in a race.

Yeah SRT4's are fairly quick, but gay imo. And what year were those 5.0's. LT1's have no problem with them but i would see one beating your car fairly easy.

I'm an LT1 guy, and I saw this thread heading when I was looking through the main page. I had to stop by and laugh.

Re: my 1997 v6 is pretty fast

I love it when people "think" my car is a V6

I also love it when people pull up next to me at a red light and say "That ting gotta tirty ate hunerd"

Then I reply,

"You're about to find out"

Don't mind me. I'm in a real silly mood today
