Mustang v6 vs. F-bod v6

Okay, please understand that I'm not trying to start a fight, but, i went to stang net and corral cause I was bored at work yesterday. went to the v6 section since my wife drives a 00 stang v6. and I started seeing a ****load of people over there in 12's and a few in 11's.

All I have to ask is... Why? Is there a better aftermarket for the stang v6 then there is for the f-bod v6??? I now in stock trim, we can get them, but after seeing this, all I have to say is dang.

Anyone have an explanation, or something?

Thanks. Just wondering.

Much better aftermarket for stnags then the f-body.

We had shane and his 12 second non-juice v6 firebird at a meet last tuesday at sonics near UCF.

They just seem to have a better aftermarket. I mean when you get into it there are GTPs in the 10s, with pretty much the exact same motor in a heavier car with a worse platform(FWD) for drag racing.

Thumbs up

Yep, no need to worry, we still beat them stock and if we had cheaper and more aftermarket parts we would still beat them. THe average modded V6 Camaro will still beat the average modded V6 stang. We are the ultimate big sixer platform.
Really, i'm not biast.

to the Camaro sixer

Theres a lot more V6 Mustangs out there then V6 Camaros. If it came down to the same number of cars built the ratio of highly moded cars would probably be about the same. Also since there are more Mustangs out there, of course theres going to be lots of companies making mods for them. Stock it is pretty close between a 3.8 Mustang and 3.8 Camaro. IMO the Camaro has a very nice cockpit feel to it and the Mustang is too trendy.

It's not common, but people have their reasons. Lots of times it's just a hobby also to have it be a sleeper.

There are simply more people with V6 stangs that are willing to spend money and they spend it right. We have all those guys that run intake/exhaust only. There is only a handfull that have the knowledge and money. I see alot of wastefull spending on bad mods that won't get them anywhere.

besides there being more v6 stangs than F-bodys i'd have to say that there is a bigger aftermarket for the stangs because they had the same basic motor for the entire current gen run, the 3.8L. i mean, yeah it put out 150hp or whatever for the pre '99 years, but there were already mods developed for those motors before the '99+ stangs came out with the 190hp motors. so those companies that had developed the mods just had to change them slightly to get them on the '99+ cars. where for the F-body, the 3.4l and 3800 are entirely different motors so the aftermarket kind of never gained momentum.

that's my take on it anyway.

If you look at both of those ET pages you will see clearly the V6 Stang is an easy low 11 second car with a trap speed of 121 MPH.

Many V6 stangs running almost 13's NA.

But the GM 3.8 is the better engine IMO.
