Welll, with a 2.4 it really is little american power, the only way you are goning to really blow them away without doing an engine swap will be to supercharge it.... its very high though, if you were going to do that it would be easy tpo do an engione swap. What is that lil beast in anyway?
If you are wanting to stay cheap, cold air intake, and an exhuast is your best bet. Hope this helps!!!!

I think the 2.4 was a typo for 3.4l. With two grand you could sell your car and get a Z28 of the same year.

Insurance goes down with the age of the car. I did a quick online qoute on what it would cost me for a 95 3.4l compared to a 95 Z28, the difference in insurance was about $250 a year for full coverage. Just for the record, I don't have any grade discounts or anything like that.

Neither do I - infact, I have no tickets and have never been pulled over - ever.. BUT I'm 18 and insurance on a Z28 would rape ME personally -- I'm only paying $63/month full coverage on my 6-cylinder...

damn you guys are lucky on insurance, i live in NJ so insurance is through the roof PLUS im only 17, i could probably afford a Z, but the insurance would probably be around 1500 a year. If i went to ajunk yard and found a good z28 or ss motor or something.. would the be worth buying and dropping in? or would it be more cost effective to do something else to the car?

back to your question, they do have programmers for our engine, but kinda high for the gains you could get. Ummm Yea, cams would help, they can make a 3.4 sound awsome. They can make it real lopey. Do a tb bypass, gets you about 1 hp! It sounds kinda dumb, but i have a 95 3.4 not much done to it at all, but when i go to race, i have a traction prob. Stock sized tires, but they are just wider. They are good tires, nice tread but being a standard, they like to spin, even when i hit second for a sec. Practice running your car helps to. Is it an auto or 5speed? You can learn when to shift and all of that crap that can really help. Put a cutout on it...tb (throttle body) bypass, if you want get a prgrammer, there just a lil high. Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

ok.. another question.. do they even make superchargers for 3.4l's? ( i figured, hey why not look into one, maybe ill save up) i couldnt find one anywhere.. the closest i found was one from rksport for the 3.8 ( and rksport is kinda expensive) i saw tons for the 5.7l's for pretty cheap (around 3500) but i could find any for the 3.4l , not even on ebay, and they usually have all that junk.. anyways, if anyone knows of a site with a SC for the 3.4 plz post it or e-mail me @ Echo_Bravo1717@Hotmail.com TIA

on a 3.4 you want to go with a turbo and their are a few kits around and a few diy guys that made them for the 3.4.. The best kit I have seen around is the one made by tiago it is 3,000 and is bolt on you do have to get rk sport headers (or have a shop bend the piping so it will fit to diff headers) and prob have to get a betta clutch and a msd dis 4 ignition haha and cant forget a lsd ... the site is

Im 19, I guess I was really getting ripped off on the V6. The quote said something like $1,097 every six months for a 95 V6 and something like $1,224 every six months for a 95 Z28. I guess it varies greatly person to person. But if your already getting really ripped off like me I guess they can't rip you off too much more for a Z28.

for the record the only turbo kit is made by tiago, so its not only the best its also the worst

there is a company in canada that makes a supercharger kit for the 3.4L , i cant think of the website offhand, however the company is something like RSM racing IIRC

RSM makes a super charger for the 3.4 for $5000 you can run 12 psi of boost and make about 300hp.
The 3.4 heads are not a good super charger head I think.
