misfires
misfires
Since i purchased my camaro last year, I've gotten misfires. They occur most often in 3rd gear. I've changed plugs, wires, and I bought one coil pack and i've tested it on the first two slots, and still I get the misfires. ( I havn't checked the last one yet). Any ideas what to do? Thanks.
How do you know you have misfires???
Is the SES light flashing??? Do you have codes??? Or is it strickly cause it rough?? Cause if it is....get the code read....it will give the cylinder that is misfiring.
Misfires could also be a bad injector.

In the early summer I had my neighbor ( a goodyear shop owner) take the car in. They hooked it up to a computer and saw that a cylinder was misfiring (can't remember which, although i really wish I could) so they replaced the plugs and wires. It seemed to get better, then worse. Then I bought a coil pack (60 bucks at the local chevy dealer, ouch) and tried the first two slots. On the 2nd it seemed all was cured, then it came back. What it is, is when you accelerate, the car will sorda jump and you hear a gurgle type sound in the exhaust (with loudmouth you can really hear it). I'll try the last coil pack slot this weekend, and if that works I suppose Ill take it to a shop. If anyone has any other suggestions, please post. Thanks for the help guys
My car went in for inspection, during which they hooked it up to the computer to check for the miss (which they found last year). The computer found nothing wrong...... My battery is low, could that be a source of the problem?
how low is the battery? i doubt that it would be the battery if the car is starting
also i had a really bad hessitation in my car last summer , it was really struggling to get up and go , then i realized a spark plug wire came loose on cylinder #5 , and i put it allthe way back on and it was fine

That's really funny about the battery. I had a misfire problem with my car and the service department claimes that a low battery can cause all kinds of electrical problems, including a misfire. I purchased a new battery and I still had the problem. Ended up being a cracked plug wire. My car doesn't throw any codes either. Check your wires and connections to make sure they're in good shape. That's where I'd start. Replace your wires if you're in doubt. Probably won't hurt to change them anyways. Good luck
its possible, my sister had her car in the shop for like 2 weeks straight , they couldnt find out what was wrong with it , apparently in the wires (that were 3 months old) the wire got "un"seated in the boot on 3 of the wires, and the engine was runnin on 3 cylinders instead of 6.
