15 miles to the gallon bad? or just a lead foot?

 

Thats not good...my head/cam car gets better than that in the city. You either have a really really heavy foot or you need to perform some maintnance. Change the fuel filter and get some fuel injector cleaner.

 

i bet it has a lot to do with your driving, when i was 16 i got 13-14 MPG, i was allways jumping on it, and now after a lot of mods that probably shouldnt help i get 23-28MPG (and i do more highway now, but thats a HUGE diff

if you think your driving has a lot to do with it ... im guessing there is a good chance you are right

Afterall they're getting better gas milage than you anyway...

 

Probably not the way he drives...

some of the maintenance things to look at....

-air filter
-fuel filter
-plugs/wires(see the sticky at the top of this section)
-upper intake cleaning/seafoam
-motor flush
-o2 sensors
-kinda rare but maybe the CAT?


What year and how many miles on the car, when was the last time all the above stuff was changed.

 

My worst is around 17- Thats winter driving with alot of ideling/warmup time/ around town driving.

Are you doing your math correctly? Next time you need gas re-set the trip odometor and the time after you fill up take the miles on the trip divided by the amount of gas your car took

Last time it was around 280 miles on my trip

Car took 11.4 gallons

=25.4MPG (that was highway driving 75-90MPH just saturday)

I also want to point out, 3800 is good on the highway or when you accelerate slow, but I rember when I useto be into hiting 4500 RPMs every light it showed seriously the next time I filled up!

 

With my 97 3.8 Camaro, I was getting an average 27-28 mpg with a mixture of city/hwy driving and 30+ on the interstate. I got well over 400 miles to a tank numerous times. It had intake, exhaust, dis-4, ect with 135k miles on it.

This one was getting about 25 last time I checked. Now with the DIS-4 installed, I should be back up there again.

So yes 15mpg is bad.

 

i get 26 MPG city/high with my motor and 57# injectors so yes something is really wrong!!!! (this is me running N/A)

 

the car is an 02 with 20k on the clock, its my lady driving but, i drove it after getting some warranty work done and she doesnt nearly ***** it out... i know on my formula v8, i get better gas mileage when i ***** it out cause it get to be stay at lower rpms sooner. but she doesnt let it warm up she just drives 10 miles to work and 10 miles home...
