Manufacture Control Module, Transmisson

My car has been acting funny lately, When I'm cruising at high speeds (55 +) in 4th gear, the car seems like it wants to downshift for no reason at all... It feels exactly tapping the clutch and letting the engine rev just a few notches but instead of downshifting it just puts it back in gear. I have an auto. However, when it really NEEDS to downshift it goes through alot of hesitation (no misfiring, just RPMS jumping around) and finally I have to put my foot into it to force it to downshift. It does this in simple situations like going up hills, right turns on red where it won't go back to 1st gear but instead start in second, ect..ect.. I have the SGS (second gear start) feature but it wasn't activated. From a dead stop I have no trouble at all getting to 80+ MPH but this gets annoying at cruising speeds. Finally I was on my way home from the F-Body gathering and that ancient yellow SES light came on, and it starting shifting rough as hell that night since. The next morning I took it to Autozone which it ran perfectly fine and normal, smoothe shifting and everything but the SES light didn't go away. Autozone scanned it and said the code read, Manfucature Control Module, and Transmission. My transmission fluid is full, heck a drop more would overfill it. Autozone didn't know what to tell me but suggested I take it to a transmisson shop. I've heard ALOT of bad stories about transmission shops, so before I go and have my car rigged, What could Manufacture Control / Transmission mean? Might I need a new tranny? (I pray not)

Thanks all...

Well, after alot of driving and the car acting perfectly normal, I get home and just before I put it in the garage, guess what happens... no more SES... This has happened before aswell but I thought it was the lack of transmission fluid, we put some in and after 30 mins of driving it went out aswell... I noticed something though, both times when they went out, the car was really low on fuel (about to redline) Maybee it was the gas I was using that caused this hesitation? I didn't fillup at any different station but I'm going to start using 89 Plus Octane... and run some injector cleaner through my car...
