ls6 or ls2 engine swap
ls6 or ls2 engine swap
I realize that the v6 to LS1 engine swap is quite involved and expensive...but that doesn't matter to me. How about a swap to an LS6 or LS2? Anyone have any light on the subject as far as what's involved? Or is it pretty much the same as the LS1 conversion? My main concern is the rear end, I'm hoping that it can stay the same.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The factory rears aren't exactly known for being the most durable. Along with the LSx swap can come the potential headache of a blown rearend. Its something to keep in mind and be prepared for when the time comes. I would say at the very least try to get a used rearend with 3.23 or 3.42 gears and a posi. That will really complement your motor swap nicely.
Exactly, that is what I was thinking. When you do a swap like that, sometimes it is easier just to find a wrecked donor car and swap over the entire powertrain.
A swap to an LS6 will be almost exactly the same as an LS1 swap. I swapped my LS1 for an LS6 and it was all but a direct bolt in swap. However, I didn't start with a V6 when I did my swap, so I have no knowledge from that standpoint.
the rear ends are the same both have 7 5/8 inch rearends. swapping the rearend will do nothing. changing the gears and carrier to a newer 3.42 posi would make the car a whole lot happier though. new axles are cheap insurance. you will break it eventually unless you spen some money. check out the drivetrain forums
