Looking for a camaro
Hello Forum. This is my first post and though i dont own a t-top camaro as my screenname would sugguest; I am in the market for one. I'm going to go check out a camaro this week and i would like to know if you guys know of any notorious problems concerning a 3.4 v6 camaro with about 140,000 miles. i know about the leaking tops cause i own a car with a targa and im used to a wet butt. Thanx for reading my post.
With a 140K on the clock, there could be anything wrong. Just check all the fluids really well, look for external leaks, take it for a test drive, see how it drives and feels. Look under the undercarriage for any noticable damage or problems.

Welcome.. this is a great place and I have found so much help here
I had a 1995 (3.4), firebird actaully but same motor + set up... anyways I drove it untill about 150K and it was doing just fine when I traded it in for $2000 (I was only owner and took good care of it + did about 99% on the miles on the interstate so kind of an extreme case)
The only problem I ever really had was the plug wires don't last more than 20/30K so you are always having to swap them, but that is only $30 and not that hard to do... other than that it was a good strong car (+ decent gas milage) and I have heard of many people getting 200K out of them but it all depedns on who had it before and did they take care of it.. as that is what really decides the fate of the motor&car.
When you test drive it look very carefully over everything, don't be afraid to ask about stuff.. if it is a good car the person selling it will provide the info or if it is a bad car you can tell the person sellign it will be BSing.
When you are testdriving it take it on the highway, that car should easily be able to hit 70 on the onramp with your RPM staying around 3k.. if it doesn't or the person selling teh car is not about letting you drive it on the highway then they have somethign to hide... also when testdrving it look at the oil pressure gauge as if that thing is drops to far below 60 you have to be concerned, the other thing you could do is ask for a compression check but that is a little much to ask
Also, get the VIN and get a CARFAX, I think it costs about $20
p.s. just a complete side note but if you were thinking of buying the car for the frame and then dropping in a new motor I know in Miami you can get that motor used, with say 50K on it, for about $300-$400

Edmunds is saying $2,276 for private party & $3,236/$1,610 for dealer retale/trade in
I didn't know what year the car was so I geussed 10 years old for 140K and looked up a 1996 camero 2 Dr STD Coupe
Oh sorry i forgot to say it was a 95 and now im looking at two camaros one 94 one 95, both want around $2,700.
Parents wont let me. And i dont really need to get into too much trouble. And i almost bought a 95 trans am but it had too many problems and i dont have the money or time cause i have to go back to school next week. oh and me and my dad test drove it thats when he decided it had too much power.

If you can't get a V8, then I would suggest ponying up the extra cash for a 3.8 instead of the 3.4. That way, you get an extra 40 hp and low insurance and happy parents. Plus I think the gas mileage is supposed to be better, though mine isn't (~17mpg).
Yeah i considered that too. Belive me ive been looking. Ill find something.
