Lil' Bro got a '99 Bird--Q's inside

My little brother got his first car, it's a '99 Firebird M5. Q's---

The rev limiter is set at 4500? Is that standard?

What are some good, cheap, first mods? I'm thinking just exhaust, intake, and some kind of free mods (like TB Bypass, IAC Reloc., etc. on LT1's)?

What's the top speed of one and what should the car run in the 1/8th?

Thanks!

Rev limited should be set at 5500 or 6000. 4500 is waaayyy low.
top speed is goverened at around 118 i beleive and his car with the 3.8 usually runs an avrage of about 15sec quarter.

exhaust and intake is what you need first definitly. I dont kno any free mods for the 3.8 cuz i got a 3.4 but im sure some of the other memebers will give you somethin, tell him to check out Camarov6.com they have good info there and hell probaly get better answers since everyone has a v6

Intake and exhaust...one of the better mods you can do for your car, especially for a car that is all stock. When you remove the stock intake system, you'll see why. I felt bad for my car.

Those two basics will make the car much more enjoyable to drive and shouldn't set him back more than $500 max.

Ok, had the car checked out under warranty for the now 4000RPM "limiter." Turns out it was a mad clogged cat, they're replacing it early next week.

I think he's decided on some type of cold air (whisper lid?) and a Magnaflow catback. What should that put him at 1/4 mile wise?

In neutral, the rev limiter is set at 4500 I'm pretty sure. Although, that might only be automatics, I'm not sure about manuals... I've never reved mine that high when not in gear.
