Leak on passenger side
Leak on passenger side
Has anyone else had a problem with a leak coming into the passenger side down by the foot area?? When it rains, once in a while the carpet will become very damp underneath the foot mat. Any ideas as to where the leak could be coming from?? It only happens when its raining obviously. Thanx
Do you have t-tops? If so, maybe you need some new weather stripping. When it rains, or i wash the car, i usually get a couple drops inside. It comes in where the window touches the t-tops. If you don't have t-tops, then i would suggest getting new weather stripping also.
hey, i have that same problem!! I noticeds it one day when i was \vacuming my car out. I lifted up the mat and it was wet..im not sure were it is coming from either??? I dont have t-tops either, car leaks enough at the windows when i was it lol
I figured the same thing at first but its happened a few times now and i know that i didn't have anything there that would spill. Its weird, I think i'm gonna go see if i can figure it out now since i got the day off.
VERY common problem...I've had the same problem for over 2 years now
I have a double whammy though. If I park with the nose facing downhill, I don't get the water in the passenger floorboard, but it leakes in through the trunk on the passenger side. If I park with the nose facing uphill, then that's when I get the water in the floorboard.
I bought a new house, so my Z is in the garage now and I haven't had the problem since
As far as I know, not getting the car wet is the only solution...
Oh yeah, I don't have T-Tops either....

well i got home from school and was checking it out...and yet again it was wet undermy mat in front pass. i thought for a sec and said this is weird...the top of my mat isnt wet... so i took the mat out and the bottom is wt in a big area, not the top. i noticed that its right above where that big hump is . so i looked aunder my car and where it is wet is where my cat is...so i wonder if all the heat is coming up from it(we know how hot they get!) and cause my mat to sweat with th efloor board..thus why the top of my mat isnt wet just underneath...ever thought of that??
The water is leaking down from under the cowl. It comes in from the top and leaks at the very top of the carpet and some gets under to the pad as well. That's why it's missing the mat.
I've had to replace my carpet padding 3 times now due to everything mildewing and stinking up the whole car.
Sorry, but it's not the mat sweating with the floorboard. It only happens when it rains or when I wash the car.

Fortunately, my actual carpet hasn't mildewed. I just bought a bunch of padding from an automotive interior shop for like $10 and whenever I start to smell mildew, I replace the padding under the passenger floorboard. I've done it so many times now that I can have it changed in about a 1/2 hour.
I wish I knew of a cure...

I HAVE THE ANSWER FOR YOU!
Holy $hit I had the same problem when I got my car 3 years ago. For a while I thought maybe my A/c drain was clogged and the extra moisture was leaking into the car. But then I realized every time it rained my car almost flooded on the passenger side. IT got so bad one time the floor behind the passenger side seat actually had an inch of water sitting there. I figured out it wasn’t the T-tops or sealing on that side because the previous owner had just had new seals put on. After drying it out completely I decided to figure out the problem. I removed the computer in the engine compartment to see the firewall on that side of the car, got out in the driveway with the hose and started slowly running water on different parts of it. My dad got down on the floor of the passenger side and watched for water dripping in. I ran the hose over a spot on the firewall almost directly behind where the computer sits. There is almost a fold in the sheet metal there. For some reason there were two pencil tip sized holes there. When the hose went over that spot water poured into the car. I thought they may have been there from the wreck my car suffered on that side form the previous owner, but maybe it’s a production problem. Anyway I just JB welded the hell out of the area and I haven’t had a problem since. Try the hose test. Find out where the hole is in your firewall and JB weld it. Good luck!
