I sold my car
Hey guys its been a long time since I posted, but I just wanted to let you know I sold my car. It was a '02 SOM Firebird 3.8L, W68, t-tops, A4 (one factor which made me sell it), monsoon, flowmaster 80 series. Anyway the main reason for selling it was that my insurance was $255 a month for full coverage. I have no accidents or tickets on my record. I am 18 but that is still ridiculous. That is the reason that kept me from getting a Trans Am in the first place. It has been gone since early April now, I just forgot to tell you because I've been mostly on the forums for my truck. Here is a pic of her: www.geocities.com/racerjoey1/EDGE.jpg
Its a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge 4x2. It has a 3.0L V6, 5 speed, 4.10 gears. I have a 40 series flowmaster with a turndown which sounds really deep. I know its a Ford, but I prefer the Ranger over an S-10. I will always like the F-bodies more than Mustangs though. The truck is saving me some money now since I am a freshman in college. In a few years I do plan to sell the truck and buy another F-body, this time either a 6 speed Z28 or a Trans Am.
Ill post here more,
Joey

ouch, I pay around $100 a month and I'm 17
ya know, life's just not fair sometimes...What carrier do you have. I use State Farm, which is half of my problem right there. I also get a military discount and some good grades deduction from high school...it really is pathetic...
Thats a lot of money every month. I was going to get a Trans Am in the first place, but insurance would have been about what yours is. I love my truck alot, but I wish I had the job I had now when I was looking for a new vehicle. I would have been able to pay for the insurance on a TA. Maybe in the next year or two I will get one. My brother is almost 14 now, so in two years maybe he will get my truck or something. This truck is my third vehicle, so at this rate next year I might have another ride.
Peace,
Joey

I have a 91 Camaro RS V6 3.1 and i pay about 100 bucks a month meaning like 97.95 and i have like 2 tickets, i go through nationwide insurance. other then that i've been good.. i haven' t had a ticket in a year and i'm almost 20. although i'm thinking about swaping the v6 to a v8
the car has 170,000 miles on the engine.. so thats the main reason why i'm thinking about it. .

Im 15 and my insurance is $133 a month on my 99 v6 Camaro....so I put the car under my dads name and I bought an old 87 S-10 pickup truck to put my name on. Now my insurance is only $60 a month
The car has full coverage and the truck is just liability. I love saving money

Ha. You poor bastages.
When I was 18 (1991) I paid $91 a month for full-coverage ($250 deductible) on a gorgeous black-on-black 1989 IROC-Z 350tpi. Today, my 96 TA is only $58 a month (still $250 deductible; Florida). This and I've had three accidents since '89.
Guess keeping the insurance agent on my Christmas card distribution list is still paying off...

$255 a month is pretty bad, my insurance on the V6 when I was 17 was $2k a year (full coverage). My SS insurance (full coverage and im 18 now) is $4k a year with a clean record, used to be clean. I have a detector/jammer and it has saved me many times but it doesn't stop cops from pacing you when going 30mph over the limit.
.....I cant even get away with doing 5-10 mph over the speed limit. Ive had cops follow me and give me those bad looks when Im doing the speed limit. I guess they look at it as a teenager in a hot sports car.
Want a T/A? Buy a regular V6 bird...drop an LS1 in it, change the front end and rear hatch, add the ground effects, bam! It'll cost to do that, but with the money you will save paying on a V6 Firebird compared to a T/A will be enough to cover it.
Want a Z28? Even easier, but a regular V6 Camaro, drop an LS1 in it, and bam! (edit: before someone gets all technical on me, I know it takes more than just the engine, I've done it...just generalizing)
Good thing about it is with insurance running off of VIN's you can make whatever you want out of a Cavalier - run 8's in it if you want, and still pay the cheap 4 cyl insurance for it. It's perfectly legal, ask you agent about it. I asked him one time about putting a blown 454 in my car (just for the fun of it, the guy likes cars) and he said, "OK, still won't change your rate." The only catch is, you are only covered for a V6 Firebird (or Cam) not a T/A-or Z. But hey, you can have a bad car, and save money on insurance, without lying, cheating, or stealing.
