How hard is a V8 swap on a 95 3.4L?
How hard is a V8 swap on a 95 3.4L?
Okay i have been buying an LT1...but the more I think about it...I am thinking an LT1 or even carbed swap might be cheaper and more of a fun learning experiance. Has anyone done this....is it hard?
If you've got all the parts, it's not hard at all...if you don't know a whole lot about the complete mechanics of a car, it would be easier just to buy all the stuff and do an LS1 or an LT1 swap...a carbed swap would be pretty sweet, but not if you want a powerful daily driver...just depends on what you are looking for.
If you can and know how, do the labor yourself...prices are gonna range you, but for an LS1 swap, you can proabably expect at least $3500+.

I'm sure you know quite a bit more about automobiles than I'll ever know
but personally I'd go with a built LT1 swap... for the price you'd pay for a complete LT1... beef up the internals *or atleast cam/ported stock lt1 head upgrade* and slap it in you would've paid for a complete LS1 swap. And still be able to run with them all day long. BTW... do you have access/capable of doing an engine swap? Like another guy mentioned... it'd save loads of cash to do it yourself or get a few buddys together to help.
If you buy the engine and everything on the list that I would send you I would do the labor for $500 and 8 hours later you would be driving your LT1 camaro home. I'v done it for a couple of people on the board. If you like I can e-mail you there camaroz28 name and e-mail addy's.
I would be very interested in doing this in a few months maybe...

Go with the LS1 or LT1. With a carbed motor, emissions shouldn't be a problem......because you won't be able to pass them!!!
I'd say go with the LS1, more unique, better MPG, responds better to mods.
