Okay i have been buying an LT1...but the more I think about it...I am thinking an LT1 or even carbed swap might be cheaper and more of a fun learning experiance. Has anyone done this....is it hard?

It's been done a few times before and I think one guy did the swap for aroun $2500 including all the parts. But he did all the labor himself.Good luck whatever you do.

If you've got all the parts, it's not hard at all...if you don't know a whole lot about the complete mechanics of a car, it would be easier just to buy all the stuff and do an LS1 or an LT1 swap...a carbed swap would be pretty sweet, but not if you want a powerful daily driver...just depends on what you are looking for.

If you can and know how, do the labor yourself...prices are gonna range you, but for an LS1 swap, you can proabably expect at least $3500+.

I thought that the 98 frontend was because of the LS1 not fitting in the old one...if thats the case I am limited to an LT1 right?

If you do a search you MAY be able to come across the thread of a guy putting an LS1 into his '93-'97 style Camaro. Hopefully the thread is still around. It took him a little time to get it all together and running but if I recall correctly the engine sat properly in the engine bay. IF anything... the only thing I can see scrubbing would be the intake manifold. I'm sure an aftermarket hood would take care of that problem

I'm sure you know quite a bit more about automobiles than I'll ever know but personally I'd go with a built LT1 swap... for the price you'd pay for a complete LT1... beef up the internals *or atleast cam/ported stock lt1 head upgrade* and slap it in you would've paid for a complete LS1 swap. And still be able to run with them all day long.

BTW... do you have access/capable of doing an engine swap? Like another guy mentioned... it'd save loads of cash to do it yourself or get a few buddys together to help.

If you buy the engine and everything on the list that I would send you I would do the labor for $500 and 8 hours later you would be driving your LT1 camaro home. I'v done it for a couple of people on the board. If you like I can e-mail you there camaroz28 name and e-mail addy's.

Go with the LS1 or LT1. With a carbed motor, emissions shouldn't be a problem......because you won't be able to pass them!!!

I'd say go with the LS1, more unique, better MPG, responds better to mods.
