How hard is it to fix lifters on a 99 V6?

I am about to purchase a a Firebird tomorrow for 7500 bucks, 67k, totops and everything. Only thing is my dad says he hears a tap, and the salesmen says it is a loose exhaust manifold. How can tell? I have never heard a tap or loose exhaust manifold ever in my life so i have no idea. When it starts up, it kind of has a light pinging noise, but after it warms up like in 30 seconds, it stops. Runs great, has lots of power like the one in my sig. Is there way to check for sure? If it is a lifter is hard to replace? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

if it goes away after warming up, don't worry about it. Cars make funny noises before they are warmed up.

That sales man is full of ****, loose exhaust manifold WTF. You might want to have some people that know cars real good look it over for you. Not just for the taping but any thing else that might be hiden.
loose exhaust manifold, I'm gona use that one at work tuesday when i go back, guys at the shop should get a kick out of it.

Yeah it ended it up being some bad lifters cause it was a tapping noise. Took it to my dad's mechanic and as soon as I turned it on he said right away it was the lifters. Ended up just dropping the car back off. I did find another Camaro though that I got for the same price with the half miles. No tapping or anything wrong since it is from this huge dealership we have here. Thanks for everybody's replies.

Sounds like a lifter was not pumping up. I had that same clacking noise on my old station wagon but I drove it for 60,000 miles that way.
