HOW DO YOU LAUNCH A 3.4 l CAMARO?
Re: HOW DO YOU LAUNCH A 3.4 l CAMARO?
1) Unlock door
2) Open door
3) Get in
4) Close door
5) Start car
6) Make sure E brake is off
7) Put foot on brake pedal
8) Put shifter in overdrive
9) Let off brake pedal and floor gas pedal.
Seriously though, when you say, launch.... are you experiencing traction problems? Do you have any modifications?

no kidding .... i dont spin really at all... a little screech and im off... i wouldnt even say a tenth of a second stall... when i hit the gas i go... it also helps when u have really big tires *brand new* they will stick no problem. i just have an exhaust system and str8 pipe
Re: HOW DO YOU LAUNCH A 3.4 l CAMARO?
I am no pro and only do small launches, like, at a red light when it turns green. But...
1. Shift into first gear
2. Apply break with left foot.
3. Accelerate to 1500 - 2500 RPM
4. Let left foot off break immediately after hitting 1500-2500 RPM
5. As you let your foot off break, quickly shift from 1st into overdrive
Experiment so that you don't peel out too much. The less you peel out, the bigger and better the launch. That's how I do it in my 3.4. RPM figures may not be exact, experiment to the preference of your car. Be safe and be careful. Watch for cops, they may or may not pull you over for "excessive use of speed", even if you were obeying the speed limit. I've never been pulled over, but it can happen. If you take my advice, proceed with caution, my experience is limited, and I may be wrong.

Re: HOW DO YOU LAUNCH A 3.4 l CAMARO?
.Push down on the brake hard as you can.
.Shift to neutral.
.Quickly rev the engine. <-you'll feel the brake slide deeper into the floor->
.Put it back in gear.
.Press the gas a bit and set ur RPM to like 1000 to 1500. (Experiment w/ this cuz w/ ur new tires u may be able to push a lil more)
.When the light turns green let off the brake and fly away.
This is called brake stalling...step by step...

Re: HOW DO YOU LAUNCH A 3.4 l CAMARO?
Where I come from they call that power braking and it is really not good for your brakes !!! You see , if you keep doing it like that, your rear brakes will be out of synch with the front , and the emergency brake will not work over time. I had a 92 , and I when I first got the car, I passed inspection , no problem. In NJ they check your brakes with what they call a pressure test. Anyway... two years later I failed because my rear brakes had VERY LOW pressure and were barely reading on the print out. I'm guessing it was from power braking. The rear brakes wouldn't even "grab" when I slammed on the brakes. God forbid something ran out in front of me. Anyway have fun powerbraking just remember to have your brakes re proportioned and adjusted after a few months !!!!

Not directed towards you, but someone else: putting it in first does nothing
As for you, maybe you had a bad wheel cylinder and some fluid escaped. Ive been powerbraking for years and the car is fine. Also, most of your stopping power is up front, so if your braking got worse altogether I'd bet on the wheel cylinder or just bad pads up front.
As for launching, left foot on BRAKE, not break, right foot on the gas, stall up a little, then give it as much gas as you can without spinning. Barking the tire, however, is not really an issue.

Ya know how when you power brake, the passenger rear wheel spins and the driver side stays put? Over time , you will lose pressure on that brake and will need to adjust it . Does your state do a pressure test on brakes for inspection? Have you had yours tested? Anyway that is history I have a new Camaro now that I love !!!!
I don't have an inspection, I'm in Clarksville, Tennessee
. Mine seem to work just as they always did. I just mentioned the wheel cylinder because mine went out a while back and I lost all my brake fluid!

To launch a V6 camaro.......
Stage at the tree
wait for third yellow (even 2nd if your good)
push gas pedal to floor and hold until end of race.
If you have problems launching a V6, don't even consider a V8

He wasn't inquiring about a V8, though.
