Help w/ this Oil Report from 95 3.4
Hey all,
I don't usually post in this forum, but I figured I should post this in the V6 forum instead of LT1 tech where I usually am.
ANYWAY, I always have an oil report done after every oil change.
And I noticed my 95 3.4 A4 was gradually getting worse. This is what the report said:
ANGELA: We found a significant amount of fuel dilution in this sample. 7.3% is enough to suspect the
engine has a problem. It has lowered the viscosity down to a light 20W. Wear improved, though metals
are still high considering this oil was run only 2,600 miles. Universal averages show normal wear after
about 4,200 miles oil use. Some fuel dilution is common in engines that see a lot of city driving and
idling, though not usually this much. If you're using any additives, then this fuel may not be a problem. If
not, then you may want to have the engine looked at.
Ok, so what is up here w/ my car? It has around 63k on it. Is the gas getting past the piston rings??? What is up???
Thanks for the help...

Down to a light 20 in only 2,xxx miles? What oil was this...M1? I only ask if it was M1 since I know 10w-30 M1 is a really light 30 but down to a 20 in that low miles? Did this car see a lot of idling because like the report person said, that IS a lot of fuel. I guess the kind of oil wouldn't matter since it isn't the oil's fault.
I'd be interested to see the actual #s on the oil analysis though you might want to post them here. There is def. something wrong since too much fuel is dumping in there.

The oil was Havoline 10-30. No synthetic involved here.
It is disappointing. I don't have any SES codes, and the car runs good. I don't understand.
I am getting ready to go to lunch, I will check back!
