Question Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

I have a 95 camaro 3.4l with 185 000 km. I have been getting an engine light come on once every week and then dissapeare. I took the car to get scanned and my mechanic said it was either the IAC or something else...I cannot remember what that something else was, but I know he said the two work together....could it be the IAT sensor or TPS???

Engine light came on for fourth time yesterday, so I replaced the IAC and the light came on again today. Could this be the new valve getting worked in???(probably not)...What else should I try replacing??..Maybe IAT or TPS??

I am having no problems that I notice when the light comes on or when it's off with idle or anything else that would clarify further.

Please help....

Re: Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

I just talked to the second mechanic who looked at the car last and he said it was actaully the throttle letting in too much air sometimes...no leaks anywhere. Could this have to do with the throttle position sensor??

Well. they they can read 96+ with a generic OBDII scanner.

They can sell you a "tool" to flash codes on a 93 and older.

They can not do anything with 94 or 95

whats this tool, and where do you get one. Is it just something you plug into the connector with a screen or what?

Re: Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

teh "tool" is nothing but a glorified papr clip used to jump the "diagnostic enable" pin to the ground pin of a 93 OBDI connector to set the PCM to feild service mode and flash DTC's through the SES light. it will ONLY work on 93 and older. 94 and 95 cars are screwed for getting checked for free. sorry guys

Re: Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

Autozone has scantools that they can hook up to your ALDL. They have the "paperclip" technique tools there, but they also have Actron scan tools which are obviously more effecient. They can scan the 93-02 V6 computers with that tool (Actron). You are correct in that you cannot use the paperclip technique in the 94-95s though but you cannot use it in the 93s either. I have a 93 and it does not work.

Re: Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

80% of the autozone stores will not scan OBDI anymore. I have no idea why, just a ton of them stoped doing it. Hell in CA they will no scan anything peroid. The actron scanners can only read a true OBDII control system on a 96 + car. It;s just a generic OBDII scanner. They have a kit for that scanner that will read OBDI but like I said a lot of the stores do not use them anymore. if your car is a 93 and not an early production 94 (check the production date) Then jumping the pins should work. Make sure that your ALDL is working correctl and you do not have a bad ground etc and that your jumping the right pins

Re: Help with IAC problem?!?!?!?

The car is definitely a 93 and the ALDL definitely works. I have an actron scantool here that I use on it all the time and it works fine. The jumper technique does not.
