What are the options out there for headers for a 3.8 Camaro? I know theres RKsport, and Pacesetter. Which is the best? Thanks.

Well , sound wise they are probly both the same . The pacesetters are cheaper (around 200$$)but they have not been manufactured yet so you would probly have to wait a couple of weeks. The Rksport headers are around 400 dollars but they are ceramic coated. I just went ahead and bought the RKsport headers because I cant wait any longer for those pacesetters.

There is one more brand I think it is CIA that makes them. They are supposed to be better quality then RK's but more expensive.

Cool

Wow,we are thinkin the same right now,Only I'v been waitin b/c I live in california. The Cia you mention I believe"clearimage'I would have got those already($670 No CARB)They mold those suckas on the car.Nice.If you know of Cal emissions legal one TELL ME NOW.
Thats not exactly what I was ponderin.I havnt had the Manafolds off yet,to see.But I have taken my share of other cars off. Some the Manafolds Get narrow/smaller ,than they could be.If anybody can tell me that this is true w/3.8 manifolds.I elect,For the time bein get in there and do some openin up,you know grinding, buffing? Am I crazy? I want CIA.
Dude get the CIA,I dont know from experience but I'v heard the RKs start to leak aroud flangs. If you get um you might want to have a good look at the welds before install. And at $200 you could have three tries B4 hittin $650.Havnt heard any bad about Pacesetter.

Pacesetter are steel so will they rust? Would the ceramic coating help that much more? I know they stay cooler longer, but is it worth the 200 extra bucks. Thanks.

Well there is currently no pacesetter yet! So it's eaither RK Sport which i have and CIA. I live in California, so you shouldn't have any prob #7 with smog because i have passed the last three years. RK Sport headers are good quality and ceramic coated, but they will leak at the flanges. What i did was have my local exhaust cut the flanges off and put on a thicker steel flange and some good METAL gaskets. No prob for three years. But that is what i would recommed you do if you go with RK Sport. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

I know that everytime my friend called RK Sport they just sent more gaskets as a fix for his. That is the best way to fix them right off the bat, get thicker flanges. Some weld the y pipe and headers togeather but I wouldn't recommend it.

Your best bet is take thm to your local muffler shop and they will cut them off and weld thicker flanges on, and ask about a metal gasket also while your at it.

The y pipe should have came with your headers. Its the pipe between the headers and the cat. Where it comes down from each header and conncts into one.
