Head porting

Ok i did try searching...

first off i need to know where i can find bits for porting my heads...the summit ones are 1/4" my dremel only does 1/8th and 3/32"


and question #2 i seen a site bout porting heads that was very useful posted here...anyone know what site im talking about?

You will have eo get a 1/4'' die grinder and that is all there is to it.
For head porting ideas to get you started you should just look at lots and lots of pictures.

Yeah, professional machinists do not use Dremel tools to do their port and polishing. If you invest in the right tools, you will have less hassle in the end.

thats probabbly the site you are looking for, also the above is correct, using a dremel to port heads will take FOREVER, trust me, you need a die grinder (air or electric)

i bought a big die grinder now but the damn chuck only goes to 5/32 so im going to get som modified bits


also i pulled my intake now

and the intake ports in the heads have a big hump in all of them??? what are those humps? can they go?

You're talking about where the runners extend that extra 1/4-3/8" up into the plenum?

I had a ported intake that was done by SuperSixMotorSports and he left those extensions up in there.

The humps increase air flow in the intake port by 17% over the same port without the hump. The Chevy Power book (available through GM dealers and part outlets) provides a bit of insight. So, yes they can go, but why would you do that? 17% is like dropping 1 cylinder from your engine and you're not going to get it back.

The choice is yours!

dont remove it... that would make the heads worthless
