Have you noticed?.. (Fuel)

I'm just curious, is it just me? or do other F-Body's experience this...

After filling up my 15.5 Gallon 3.8 V6 tank, I get some pretty decent milage, UNTIL the needle gets just below the half mark and she guzzles gas like INSANE!!! I literally watched a quarter of a tank get swollowed up in my 10 mile commute to/from school, sure there's a few lights but when the needle is above half I've been able to go as far as 40 miles before it even comes close to reaching a quarter mark...

All 4th Gen F-bodies are like that. It's not that your engine is burning more fuel - it's the shape of the fuel tank. The tank is narrower at the bottom than at the top, so the readings fall sharply after half. Think of it this way: When you have 3/4 of a tank, you *really* have about half.

well its still getting good gas milage unless you're driving like a loonie. most V6s get ~20mpg in heavy stop and go. on a 400 mile trip i usually come in with at least a gallon left from a full tank which is ~27 - 28 mpg. and i usually go 80 all the way. if you drive 70 you can get >30mpg easy.

Yea same prob here too. I always wondered why the hell my gas would start taking a nose dive after half a tank lol. And around 70mph you do get good mileage, but anything faster than that well......

Have you guys been spending the $1.80 per gal. (mid-grade) that I've been dishing out of my wallet. Bush got alot to do with this.

Mid-Grade's $1.60 here in GA about 30 miles away from Atlanta, I've used regular unleaded ($1.50) if I've put anything less than $10.00 in it...

my gas gauge used to act normal, until I changed the fuel pump. now is like that, i think I need to open the tank and shake some things in there. but it all started after changing the fuel pump.

2.10 for regular?!... you still drive to?!
Ow!! suddenly 1.60 for plus doesn't seem so bad ....

I just reset my trip odometer, went 40 miles so far (20 street, 20 highway) and the gauge is still beyond full.

We pay $1.73 for premium here. And Bush isn't to blame,it's the Oil emerates that are raising oil prices. We still pay about 1/3 of what Europe pays for gas,so maybe next time you can thank Bush instead of bashing him

its just they way it reads gas..its not an exact amount
