Good first mods
Good first mods
Hey guys, I'm sure you have all heard these questions 20 times, but Ill do it anyways, hehe
I got a 2002 camaro coupe yesterday
, and am already looking into the future about the engine mods I want to do..
What performance mods are good to start with "in order", also free modifications I've read somewhere you can do some uncorking on it... some info on that would be nice also
thanks!

Re: Good first mods
Start out with a Lid/Filter and a catback. Move on to a bigger TB and Headers.
After that I'd probably look into a cam and tunning.
Free Mods... I don't know a whole lot about the 3800 (your engine)
But I think you can do the !MAF Screen mod.

Re: Good first mods
thanks guys, i got it today and love it
I ordered a k&n filter so far "and a camarov6.com sticker lol".
I was wondering about cold air intakes now, im going to do intake first then exhaust.
The kn one costs way to much IMO, even if i got one without the filter
I was wondering about the SLP cold air intake, any good? it costs alot less, jsut looking for some reviews on it
thanks

Re: Good first mods
The whisper lid is nice, the slp cold air induction is good, or you can use the free ram air mod. both have the same effect. don't worry about headers, our 2002 has tubular manifolds so headers show hardly any gain for the work and effort. if its a standard. a short throw shifter is an awesome mod....doesnt help speed much but it sure makes it more fun to drive. gears and lsd will help track times a lot.
Re: Good first mods
Thanks!
about the free ram-air mod, where can I find write-ups on this? I'll go ahead and buy the whisper lid, and already ordered the filter, just need to know more about this free ram air modi...

Re: Good first mods
There is absolutely no reason to do a bigger TB on a 3.8L, especially anywhere near your first mod.
Replace silencer with PVC coupling
Lid or shave the fins on the stock lid,
Washer raise airbox mod
Catback, and 3 inch in/out cat
Shocks
1LE front bar
That is the order I would do mods in (actually that is essentially what I did). I would not do headers unless you know you do not want to go turbo in the future, or if you know you will stay NA or go SC. I'm going to be putting my custom reversed manifolds to the MP70 after they get back from the machine shop, so I am happy I did not buy headers back in the day.
