Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

Yeah pressure at the rail should be 40 plus and hold. Not sure on the 80s tune port but it should be squirting out at the schrader valve on the fuel rail with pump running.

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

Just put the new pump in and it's do nothing so far. It isn't pumping at all. Could it be the regulator? Is there a way for me to test? 12V are supposed to be running to the pump, correct?

with key on yes it builds up momentarily. Did you try to jump it from the front? If it runs then you have problems else where, relay, regulator, wiring.
Check the pump harness for damaged/frayed wires. I wish I had a FSM then I could look up the wiring diagram/sequence.

did you figure it out if you got a relay or not? in your first post you said you bypassed the relay and could hear the pump?

The problem happened a day after my brother was driving my car and ran over a piece of concrete in the middle of the road on the drivers' side. That is the side that the fuses and everything for the relay and fuel pump are. We are thinking that it could possibly be in the wiring.

Yes, we did bypass the relay and the pump was only getting 20psi. We figured the pump had died, but the new pump is acting the same.

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

It's getting enough pressure when we bypass the relay, but with the relay in I only get about 7 volts at the pump. The pump will turn on for 1-2 seconds and I hear a high pitch sucking sound and then it turns off instantly. I've read something about it possibly being the oil pressure sending unit. Any ideas?

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

its not the oil pressure sending unit. I know some one on here had a similar problem, go over all the wires and where they connect, if you see damage on the looms or insulation (wire coverings and wraps) open them check each wire for good insulation and make sure there are not any burnt ones.

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

did you try priming the pump from the single jumper? this should bypass all relays and if you get better fuel pressure if would suggest possible short/relay/regulator problems.

I gotta get back to my 12s thru the weekend... exercises are so cool But Ill look into finding a better wiring diagram for the v6

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

The hot wire on the fuel pump is grounded with the relay out. Is this normal? Bypassing the relay will get 12 volts to the hot wire to the pump, but when it is plugged into the fuel pump it is grounded.

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

Almost traded the 'maro in today for a mazda, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm getting a mechanic to fix it and not going to keep putting tons of time into it. It may be the ECM or a Crank shaft sensor?

check the wiring on your crank position sensor

Re: Fuel Pump/Relay Issue

My mechanic friend is bringing over is code tester. He was checking all the wires and it's getting 12 volts without the relay in it from the switch and only getting 1 volt with the really in from the switch. He said that it was possibly the ignition switch or the ecm. I'm getting it towed to his house so we can test it thoroughly.
