Lightbulb Free mods for V6

Don't know if this has been asked yet, looked around and couldn't find it.
Anyway I was looking for some info on free mods for my 02 v6. I have already cut out the fins in my air box and have CAI. Also read about the screen removal of MAF sensor. IF there are any other suggestions I would appriciate it.

Here is a link to some of the free mods. Looks like you have some of those done but there are a couple there you haven't.

Also there is the FRA (free ram air). Four posts down (my post), I talk about why I don't recommend it plus a link on how to do it if you still want to do it.

It's technically not free, but is very cheap, the TB bypass. installuniversity.com has a write up on how to do it. The write up is for a LS1 but it's all the same, you reroute the one radiator hose. I bought a TB bypass kit off of ebay instead of going around trying to find the parts. If you buy one on ebay don't pay more then $10 for it.

Thanks for the advice. Now at the risk of sounding stupid I have to ask, How do you get the screen off the MAF without damaging it? I got all the air box and hoses out of the way and then could not find an easy way to get it off.

Fro Tb bypass on my 3.4L, I just bought an inline hose repair part, and 2 hose clamps, cut the TB hose, jammed the hose repairer in the middle and put the hose clamps on tight, held tight for 3 years, ~30k miles. Cost less then $4

As for free mods, those work, also you can unyhook the exhasut behind the CAT if you still have the stock system on teh car...

Free mods can be fun... check out my cardomain site

As for MAF screen, get 2 mechanical pencils or 2 nails... there is a C-clip going around the screen, put the nails in the wholes of the C-clip, compress the c-clip take it out, then put the nails in the screen(I did it in spots where if I put the C-clip back in it would be blocked off) and jiggled its way out.

You can't do the TB bypass on the 3.8l, descreening is controversial a search will show the cons. Basically though people that have done it say it restricts air flow people against it say there are no proven gains. Personally I haven't done it to my car because I once found a pine needle stuck in the screen which would have been bad if the screen wasn't there. Things like that shouldn't happen, but it did...

Unhappy little help

this kind of goes back to the MAF screen. I went ahead and took it off to try it. Took my car for a test ride and i don't if it helping or not. My car seemed to run a little smoother though. I did notice that my oil gauge was bouncing around a lot at idle and reading low ( between 60 & 30). any ideas or comments?

I understand fear of stuff messing up your maf but a 3.8L maf, has a little plastic guard in front of the MAF wires.
