Engine whining sound
Whenever my car is idling it makes a whining sound from the engine bay. It gets louder the more I accelerate but dissapears at about 50 mph. I know it is not supposed to be as loud as it is because i'm by other 3.8's all the time and they dont have that sound. Its becoming really annoying, Its even louder than my flowmaster 80 series. Any ideas on what it could be or what I should do? Thanks ahead of time for the help.
Re: Engine whining sound
really could be ur belt, or if not, ur belt tensioner pulley
change ur belt, it will go away, maybe (mine did)... then my frickin belt snapped, cuz my belt pulley seized.... had to replace both, now its fine..
idle ur car, open up the hood, see if the noise is coming from the area of either a tensioner pully, the alternator (pulley), or in general (then it would be the belt)
best of luck, let us know what it was

Re: Engine whining sound
You can try belt dressing and if the noise stops then its the belt. Also did you or a previous owner remove the silencer/resonator. People say after they remove it that it will whistle. I've removed mine but don't really hear anything so I guess I'm lucky.
