Engine question.

I have something that started this morning with my camaro. When i start it it idles realyl rough almost to the point of dying and i have to pump the gas very hard to get it running smoothly. after about a minute or two it levels out and idles smooth with a few rough hiccups here and there. Any thoughts on what might have started this or what is wrong?

Re: Engine question.

Sounds like a fuel problem. Check the pressure regulator.

Re: Engine question.

How do i do that? Should i take it do a dealership?
Someone at work told me to put in B-12 Chemtool to clean the fuel lines but i didn't want to until i checked to see it that would help.

Re: Engine question.

If you're not sure how to do it.. a dealer would be best. You have to remove the fuel rails to get it out, which can be kind of a chore. Injector cleaner won't help, because a faulty regulator would be leaking, rather than being clogged. My car showed the same symptoms yours is when mine went bad. It was dumping raw fuel directly into the manifold, and when i shut the car off, it would build up in the manifold and what not.

Re: Engine question.

If that doesnt work you might place the blame on the fuel filter, they do get nasty!! and B-12 is really good for cleaning lines and injectors.
