Question engine conversion

I have a 2002 V6 5speed and am wanting to do a V6 to LS1 conversion. If you've done a V-6 to V-8 swap please post with how you feel about the results of the swap I am very interested to see what others think.

you have a 2002 and already want to spend 5-6 gs on a V8? why dont you do what i did and get the most out of your L36 and then when you blow it, then drop in the LS1. my engine has 53,000 miles on it and it just cant take anymore. thats why i plan the swap. i'll tell you how it goes as soon as it happens.

Here is the easy solution for you, sell your 2002 model and buy a used V8 model. It probably wouldn't cost you a whole lot more (maybe a few thousand) if you went with a 99 - 00 model with the LS1 engine.

Engine swaps are a big headache that should be avoided if possible. If you're hardheaded enough to do it, good luck.

selling the V6 is not an option. one paid too good of price for car and two i am getting all the parts with installation very cheap. but the question remains is it worth it? My main concern, is the LS1 going to be fully functional? meaning being able to run with stock z's

if you have to ask that---do yourself a favor and keep the L36. you obviously dont know what the hell you are talking about.

I did the LS1 swap, and it runs 13.6 with lid, catback, control arms. Its an A4 with 3.23 gears. The entire swap took 1 week. What made mine so much easier than most peoples was we had btoh cars side by side. We literally dropped the drivetrain from the wrecked car and put it right into mine. In other words, I took the rear axle, ds, tranny, engine, entire front suspension, fuel lines, cooling, radiator and computer. Everything comes out from the bottom. Also had to replace the throttle assembly and the pedals bc my v6 had the electronic thorttle. The ls1 has a cable.

I am about to do one in my garage come next month with 3 other guys. We are hoping to get it accomplished in 4 or 5 8-10 hour days. Full engine/tranny swap. well worth it, I am only spending 3000.

well wouldnt you have to change the dash board because of the inside wireing

just the instrument cluster and then there is a coil situation that only needs to have a wire spliced to fix. the LS1 has 2 fuses for the coil packs and the V6 has 1.
