Red face Eh... I think my car is dead.

Well, today, after attempting to get my oil changed at JiffyLube (they wouldn't, due to the fact that I have a drain plug that's larger than stock size ), I made my way back through Malibu canyon to Pepperdine. After parking, I briefly sat in the car to put my CD's back in the case. I noticed a small amount of white smoke coming out from under the hood.

After opening the hood, it cleared relatively quickly. I think that some leaked oil has gotten on to the exhaust pipe.

I am honestly just so sick of this damn car. Since day one, it's been nothing but problem after problem. The 3.4L V-6 is quite possibly the worst designed, worst engineered motor that GM has ever designed.

Alright, I'm done. Now, to go dye my hair blue.

Uhh...sorry about your luck man, but your car must have been built at 4:45 on Christmas Eve or something, because mine is super-reliable. Oh well, it'll give you a good excuse to get an LS1 Z.

ahh i miss my blue hair , mine is black with blue tips right now, dont want to **** off my professors too much . but dont rip on the GM 60* V6 like that , if anything i would call it one of the best designed engines ever. look at its history , how long has it been in production i think it came out in 1980 or so . if it were that horrible it would not have been made for so long. good luck on your hair , what type of dye do you use?

I don't think the motor is the thing to blame. I actually don't think they're that bad of motor really. The only thing I've replaced on it is the alternator and it has 144k. I'm sure something may go wrong soon, but for now it holds up to my beating.

The 60* is probably not the worst possible motor, but I'd much rather have the 3.8L. That motor is damn near bulletproof and pretty easy to work on. It took me less than an hour, draining the coolant included, to swap out the thermostat on my old Oldsmobile. I've just really grown up working on the 3.8L, so I guess I'm biased...

Oh, yeah, dye is sitting in my hair now, going to wash it out in about 15 minutes. The dye that I'm using right now is called "Paintbox Fudge", and, so far, I'm really happy with the color. I used "Special Effects" before, but the color wasn't very bold, and the dye actually colored the inside of the shower!

3.8L bulletproof?

wouldn't go that for...

you know consumer guides rates 93-95 v6s as more reliable, and the 96-02 3.8L:s as being "used cars to avoid"

It makes a little extra hp thats it....

Also remeber you are driving a sports car that is 8-10 years old, jsut becasue a 00 3.8L: has less problesm doesn't make it more reliable jsut makes it newer. Wait some years, we will see which car holds up better.

tiny oil leak makes it the worst motor made? lmao...... mine leaks a quart or so a week........makes a good bit of smoke every now and then, but it's only cause of a beaten up oil pan. Other than the oil leak though, i've never had the slightest problem with my motor other than changing my altenator after 100k..........sounds like you're just venting.......honda's are always reliable j/k

The 2.8 is the WORST V6 made by GM, no questions asked.

Hey NeoPalidin, I would offer you the chance to come out the the east cost and drive around in my 3.8 but there is not that many with blue hair here.

Hey Chris, there's not that many out on the West Coast with blue hair either. The big thing right now out here is this "bling bling" misogynist egocentric rap culture, which pisses me off to no end.

Ah, well, it's just a fad. I'm here to stay.

Every car has something wrong with it, some major some minor, that annoys the owner. I know with my car, I have some gear backlash issues that "clunk" around along with my car being out of alignment and needing new rotors. More $$$ to fix the problems...eh, oh well. Not that big of a deal but they bug me.

As for you oil eaters out there, try some of the high mileage oil. My friend's Saturn was just DRINKING oil every week...went with MaxLife and the consumption went down quite a bit. No moly in the new formulation but it's pretty decent.
